Well Sonic3 can be awesome too, from today's foiling session..

As I ventilated with foil I lost balance and my flying mass pulled kite out of wind window by maybe 30 degrees. Nice drift by kite in 4-6m/s (8-12kn) range winds, and by pulling steering lines I was able the get kite recovered without front/backline inversion.

My first two sessions with the new Sonic 13 m in light to moderate wind. More stable than the previous model this size is ideal for a medium weight rider and basic airstyle tricks practice. Very happy with It!

Cheers

Carlo, any major difference regarding the Sonic2? Still in doubt to purchase a 15m S3. Got me a S2 13m, weight around 85kg. Sonic2 is a great kite but the 3 seems a step up.
regards,
M

I’ve got a 9 and 13 Sonic3 on the way. What’s the best strategy for a) avoiding bow ties and b) recovering from one?

I’m coming from 100 sessions on Souls. Thx!

Hi. I replaced my Sonic 2 quiver with the Sonics 3. The new model is more stable in on off and gusty wind conditions. The lift and hang time are slightly better but what I mostly like is the bar feeling with a very precise and progressive kite steering in the flight window. Water relaunching is also improved.

Cheers

Hi noahsw
You can avoid bow ties by:
•foilng in steady winds,
•keeping line tension especially during gybes- tighten the turns using wide lateral bar (with tensioned lines) movements.

If the bow tie is far aside and wind is strong enough, you can manage just by sharp pulls of assigned back lines.
Be patient.
100% success is possible.

If the bow tie is at the middle, I sit on my board and „walk” the lines toward kite and manually untangle bow tie.
Paddling upwind check your foil is clean from lines.
This method apply in lighter winds. Consider 60% rate of success.
Tadeusz.

My Re-evaluated view on what a TT big air jumping kite is - the Sonic 3 11m :)
