Replacement race bridle line

Postby Jefe » Mon Apr 22, 2019 2:59 am

I've tried searching but couldn't find anything: I busted a piece of my A bridle on an 11m Elf Joker 6 after the wind died and I had to do a deepwater packdown, not sure if I got it caught on something or what. The bridle line is extremely thin (part of the A bridle that actually connects to kite attachment point).

It is flying well now, so this is impetus for me to measure and record the bridle plan for it since I can't seem to find one online or by asking Elf. With tube kites in the past, I haven't had a problem finding suitable cordage, but I'm not sure where to get something like this? Would be great to have a spool of it for repairs. Anyone have a good US online source? The thinnest kevlar/ spectra I can find seems to be spearfishing line?

What kind of bridle line type is it on the elf?
Is it sleeved dyneema (polyester out braid with a dyneema inner core) sewn loop, or dyneema where the line loop is spliced and sewn.
You could try a paraglider repair shop as they may well be able to supply you with either type.
As for length you can compare it to the other side and they could make one for you, or you can do it yourself by hand stiching.
Better still if you have access to a sewing machine, just make sure that you use a polyester sewing thread.

They ship to USA. DC 35 or 40?

I have also used Powerpro spectra fishing line for thin lines but be prepared for adjustments due to stretch and shrink.

Maybe worth contact ELF to see what the correct spec line is.

Thanks! After looking at it and comparing it to the flysurfer bridle plans I think it's probably DC40. I'll replace with power pro for the short term and see about ordering a spool for future repairs (thanks for the link- I'll also check the local paraglider shop). I've sent an email to elf asking for bridle plans in the past with no response, so just doing to measure the good side and record my own bridle plan.l as I know it was flying good before the break.
