BRM bar on a foil kite

Postby Macster » Thu Apr 25, 2019 10:51 am

Sorry if it's been covered before... anyone had experience using the BRM bar with a foil kite?

I have an 8m and 12m Flysurfer Soul. Wondering how they would respond to having no trim strap, just bar throw...

There is an aftermarket trim option part that can be purchased.

Soul on original bar needs trim because it has ridiculous short travel. With 10cm + travel on BRM bar its very much possible use BRM bar as is - with assumption its correctly trimmed from start. /so you dont need trim to adjust its neutral position in first place/

I'm using my foil kites in light wind with a BRM style long throw no trim bar. It works fine.

In anything other than light wind I prefer a trim to allow me to depower the kite for upwind riding. Its more about posture and upwind angle than becoming overpowered.

There is this one too for a similar price. It has a trim but no safety / flag out line... thoughts?

Another question: how do you get a BRM bar if you're not in the USA?

I am told that the 12m soul may need more bar travel than the CCS provides at ~27 inches. Can anyone confirm this? How much bar travel or throw does the 12m Soul require?

Here are a few minimalist bars I have made. I would like to make one for a 12m Soul rider,

You can use comGateway.com with reasonable rates.

@ SalmonSlayer
I have a 10qm Soul 90kg and use it mainly with foil. To my feeling the Soul requires not more bar travel, Sonic2 is different. The steering lines must be at least 5cm shorter than the fronts to prevent overshooting. After 30-40cm of bar throw the steering lines get loose. Your plus 50cm bar travel will work fine. I didn`t use the depower at all. Seat harness and long arms.
