Its a modified collapsible walking stick, about 80cm long.
Bury half in the sand at an angle into the wind, 40cm is enough to catch the kite.

i think a long stake might be safer
Made up my own, copied your idea. Worked great on our narrow beach, means I can use longer lines again ThanksCARMELHILL wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2020 3:40 pmYes. The sand bag is buried. That is the kite bag with packing straps inside, that I hook onto the anchor just so it won't blow away down the beach while I'm surfing.
I'm not sure why there would be any difference between this idea and a pvc anchor? Both require you to fly the kite low at the 9 or 3 o'clock position on the edge of the wind window. I'm going to try his idea today. Clip an old board leash to your line while flying the kite at 11, then gradually walk backward while bringing the kite down to 9 oclock. Then land it. Seems pretty genius.irwe wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 11:51 ambr44 interesting concept but for most of my self-landing spots I have trees nearby and limited beach space so I cannot walk on shore with the kite. The kite is landed while I am still in the water. I tried my land Kite Catcher this week and it worked flawlessly ( 8 m FireFly V2 14 kts)
