At the end of this video where I test a kit made by me, I also land unaided with a pvc hook.

The other day I was asking this guy to help me land. He said "yeah I know how to do it". I steered down the kite and he grabbed it at the center of the leading edge and tried to turn it like a LEI. :-? :-?

The trick is to only drop the tip within reach. Also explaining will help.

Guy in the first vid has his bar on backwards...

Someone here described landing as "hold on to the tip like you're flapping out a towel." I've found that to be a very helpful way to get people to visualize what to do. I also get them to stay upwind of the bridles (stay in front of the kite if they don't know what upwind is) and put the tip on the ground and wait for me. Had folks grab the middle a couple times, so now I go through this little speech even if someone says they know.

I've only had my Hyperlink 9 for 3 months. Using the flag out line resulted in too many knots in the bridle. So I made a pvc hook like the video, but haven't tried it yet.

I did the backstall landing successfully for the first time on last week. I'm not sure if I would do it when the wind is howling.

I'll be interested in your results as I'm often on a wide sandy Mexico beach solo. When I've done the steering line back-stall landing it sure seems like the kite comes down too fast and takes a pounding. New to Souls as of July. I'd like to DIY a PVC thingy with a long sand-screw to set it in good and solid before rigging.
