Soul 8m or 6m to go with 12m Soul

Hi Guys , so I’ve had my 12m soul for over a year now and have used it exclusively for Light wind foiling.
It’s a real session saver and has probably been my most used kite during last years and this years summers.

Once I get to the comfortable foiling top end ( for me at 86KG and as I like to underloop on Gybes ) of about 16mph I’d switch to an Ozone Reo.

But because I enjoy this kite so much I’ve been contemplating getting a smaller Soul but am undecided wether to get a 6 or 8m .

Who has tried both the 8 and 6 or who has either and what would you recommend.

Ps once the wind reaches 30mph I’d definitely be back on the Reo’s

Many thanks in advance

I have both and really it depends on what you are going to use it for because they are both very different. If for almost all hydrofoiling, go with the 6m. The loops are much gentler, it drifts fantastically, and is overall a smoother, less grunty kite. If you also like going out on a twintip, big air, and explosive power, then the 8m. Still depowers significantly but if you like downlooping, it will take a little time to adjust to the power spike. I like to power kiteloop with it on my TT and the power is predictable and fun. It still drifts but not as well as the 6m

OR

You can wait around for the 7m and 9m to come out and most likely get the best of both worlds. I don’t expect it to release till the fall/early winter(typical FS release timing) but it is coming I’ve heard. Very unusual though for Flysurfer to release such close sizes foils. Speaks to the success of the line. Below is a pic of the 9m in the new orange color.

I have the 8m and 12m.

I foil board the 12m in 5-6 knots to 10-12 and the 8m in 9-10 knots up to 15-16 knots.

I reckon a 12 / 6m would be a good combo for foiling.

Definitely 6m for foiling. The 8m has plenty of power for twin tip riding from 14knots or so and has a spiky downloop.

So, and how about 10 meter soul range for hydrofoil, comparing with data of 12 and 8 seems that 10m goes from about 7-8 knots and till 13-14 knots ??

It is very impressive to see the range of possibilities. It is very difficult to think about the small adjustments of the odd measures in the soul. Overlapping ranges, features and other details. I also believe that the experience of the rider is fundamental since he can adjust the versatility of the kite and take it on the possibilities it offers.
I think the complement for 12 in this case is 6, especially to extend the upper range. Since with the 12m you can extend the upper range above the lower level of 6m.
Of course ... if you do not leave 7m before.
regards

PS
It seems that Adventure Logs has the red phone with Flysurfer :D ... and it's very good. I still remember how it shook me with the first post of soul

Nah no secret hotline(I wish though) but I do keep my ear to the ground about upcoming stuff.

off subject..
i've always loved the way BRM did their sizing with the clouds.

if you think about it.. . going from a 6m to an 8m would be the same as going from a 12m to 16m. (just too huge of a jump to be useful)
i'd consider a 7m to pair with the 6m

i originally had a 12/8/6m quiver of souls.
the 12m is awesome(esp on normal winds here in cabarete) for boosting.
..also, imo, there are much better options than trying to use a 12m soul for lightwinds(is not the lightest kite)

the 6m is almost a 1 kite foil quiver on its own.

i sold the 8m since i hardly used it (i dont megaloop...and the 6m has a crazy wide wind range)
