whoever recommended that Ozone race bar may have been trying to sell one,
I did notice a while back that two guys were trying to offload thiers as a swap or buy,
your right in that unless your loading up an overpowered foil kite for speed, racing or your a speed freek, then that bar is overkill.

Ozone do two standard non race style bars, they come in different throw lengths,
for those who want a long throw and then like me who want a shorter throw to rest the bar against every now and then, like when spinning the bar back so the bar just falls into my palm without looking for it, that bar is called the Compact bar or wake style bar, and without lines is a good price, and of course comes with the new click in system,
I noticed the bar in your picture is not the one with the click in system?
the brake strap fits on all the ozone bars and costs very little, making your own is not worth it as the Ozone one has clever little fixing points.
I much prefer the Ozone bar to my north click bars which I sold recently because of my preference for the Ozone compact bar, line lengths are much easier to manage, which you do end up changing when using foil kites on hydrofoil boards, I can now use many combinations of line length
something that never seemed to work when using LEI kites and Ttips.
Thank You, Yes this bar does have the newest Ozone click CL system that is great. I ride it on a Ride Engine style slider rope but with a new Dakine tiny seat harness.
Overkill.... that's pretty much what I'm feeling about this. Wish I could simply trade for a more compact Ozone that would fill my needs better.
My needs: All free-ride, All hydrofoil, No race, Rarely a huge overpowered since this is an 8m Soul.

I add my recent experience to this topic. I had few sessions with the new Flysurfer Force Bar M (47-55 cm) and the Soul 15. This bar differs from the new Infinity which is similar to the previous one and still has the automatic centerline untwisting function. However, with the Force Bar, In order to untwist the front lines, It is necessary to rotate the little cylinder above the QR. The bar is very solid and the grip confortable. Here's a short video of my first session with It.

Cheers

Carlo

^^ I'm honestly not impressed with their new force bar and now knowing it doesn't auto untwist is even a bigger turnoff. I expected more from FS, not just a rebranded bar at a premium price.

Auto untwist can interfere with the sheeting of the bar, which makes tricks requiring sheeting just that much more difficult. Foil kites are already more difficult especially for tricks, so it is not great to make them even more difficult. Auto untwist is great for regular riding. It would be good if the market had it as an option. Maybe flysurfers still has the old bars available if you ask.

And... It was here on the 86 page "Soul" thread where I read the Flysurfer 2018-19 bar was NG. Now, in retrospect I wish I had it. I'd be $200 richer....er.... I have spent an additional $200 on Moses :)

For my Soul 12 I made two bars.
First - standard Ozone race bar 50 cm with 15m lines
Image
Second - 2019 Cabrinha QuickLoop 1X Trim witc standard lines, but I make new depower system
Image
Image
Short lines for stronger wind, Long lines for very light wind .
All works very well

Ok, Im puzzled with this pic.

Why having a block pulley just below an Ozone swivel?
You could thread a rope through the swivel
Instead.

It does not make sense to me.

Well, for tricks and jumps its better to ride suicide. Lets not forget many many are riding like this but not really advertising due to whatever the reason.

FS old bars are solid plastic ends. Thats a no go, even tho Im using one. Not for long.

The system in the photo is a 4:1 ratio on the depower line. So you need to pull 4cm of rope to get 1cm of depower. This setup results in much lower forces needed to pull the depower rope when riding powered. If the lower pulley block was removed like you suggested then it would become a conventional 2:1 ratio for depower.

Ok,

Thanks. But how much force we talking about? Its not like impossible.

I guess thats the personal choice. I love 1:1 to be fair. Everything else is just dangling around difficult to fetch.
