When I started with foil kites I kept one of these blue screws in the back of my car for when I was foil kiting alone and I thought there might be nobody to land me:

I used to leave it in the kite bag on the beach and screw in to hook brake line over if needed but of course if you can reverse land the kite and then place the brake over the screw you can also reverse land and walk up the lines, but when its nuking I am still a bit lost sometimes and usually wait for someone or look for a wind shadow etc. Maybe I should use my blue screw to catch the bridle if its nuking, screw it into sand and then hook bridle over it, seems pretty safe compared to a sketchy reverse landing in 25kn+. I've seen tethered landings go horribly wrong (tether to chicken loop) the idea of the kite flagging out on something seems better.

I'm impressed a sand anchor has it's own website.

still think an ikea bag with carabiner attached works well - fill full of sand and its going nowhere-
