Nice overview on foil kites

Postby kf4chris » Mon Apr 13, 2020 2:20 pm

Hi guys,

I'm pretty new to kite sports. Coming from paragliding where full databases with all technical data exist, I just miss this here.
In PG we also have classifications like beginner, intermediate, advanced, professional and race that are well known.
My main interest would be the foil kite area in regards of versatility to use them on land, snow and water of course. Because of water it should be a closed foil I assume.

Are there any databases for the material?

I like to find out what foil kites are still sold, what price they got, the weight, their target use, expected level of experience, etc.

So far I found this active brands: Any additions, remarks, recommendations are welcome to get an overview done.
I'd love to get advice on what versatile "wing/foil" I should focus to start the sport. Known price ranges?

Concept Air has been around practically since the birth of the sport. I never got a chance to fly any but they have a couple current models which seem to work nicely:

Pulsion 12 seems to be working well in light wind for foiling and one of the local riders is using it for freestyle on a twintip in higher winds.

Also firefly, my friend who sold me his peak4 4 meter preferred the firefly for a moderate-high wind hydrofoil kite, because he is riding large chop/ shore-break and wants the security of a kite that will always relaunch.

Hahaha, Alex Sanz is a great guy.

I don't think any single foil is good enough for multi use, like on the water.

That shows your inexperience then. There’s been a new “revolution” using single skins why hydrofoiling. Check out the Peak4 thread.

You also need to add the race foils from Flysurfer.
