Anyone pack their foil kite like a paraglider/ppg wing?

packing starts around 5min mark. Any reason to want to do this to protect the leading edge battens (flysurfer soul)?

I might try something like this next time out with my 12m Soul to see if it can be done and will fit in the bag without twisting the leading edge battens. However, I would never kneel on any kite like he did in the video.

I do certina fold my paraglider.. it has stiffer battens in LE. There are paraglider brands which use more flexible battens so it is not necessary to certina fold.
Flysurfer (& Skywalk paragliders, same manufacturer) use the softer battens so you don’t have to certina fold it.
Without a certina bag I wouldn’t do it.

There's no reason to pack any flysurfer like this, they use plastic lines which are very durable and can be twisted up without problem. Even Armin has stated there's no need. Perhaps on other brands, they are more fragile so may require this.

I fold my Marabou's somewhat in this fashion. Roll from the tips toward the center keeping the battons flat, leave the middle 4 cells to sandwich at the end. Makes it easier to fit in the bag.

No reason to do this with a foil kite. You do with with a paraglider to protect the battons in the leading edge. Don't know of any foil kites that have battons like a paraglider. All so paraglider lines are more fragile against bending and knots.

some foils have battens. the method for a paraglider is a little different from the kite tho. You want to put all the bridles into the kite, then roll it up and trifold it to keep the battens from bending on a kite. I'm not sure why you can't roll up a paraglider like you do a kite but there must be some reason.

The battons are in the leading edge they are curved in the arc shape. Rolling it up like a kite would damage them. Folding the wing for packing them up is tedious.
