Flysurfer is going to beat fishnets? (Release of VMG2)

Postby Horst Sergio » Wed Jun 10, 2020 12:11 am

Thought this could be interesting for somebody:

3 years ago I tried a preserial of the Sonic Race with 3 level (A, B, Z) bridle and was so impressed by its handling and technology that I bought one later, even if I will never use it in race, need it or even come anywhere to use its limit.

Thinking 3 level bridle is the end of technology, while all other brands still use 4 level (A, B, C, Z) as already used in the last century? Does not look like:

Internal structure reinforced with fibre glas sticks:

Just wonder how the riders of competitors feel when they are laying out their traditional 4 level fishnets next to such a piece of 2 level high tech ... :D

For sure still has to prove that it also shines on the course, if not yet happened? Haven't looked at last racing results, maybe anybody else has seen it in competition?

I still like my original 10m Speed4 from 2012 with A/B/Z bridles only and they do look clean and felt cool.

Guys have outstanding R&D and it shows.

P.S. to be fair I should mention that I could squeeze more lowend, high end, speed, power and upwind from my 10m Rally 2012 at equal wing weight of 6.2 lbs and it did have only A/Z bridles :)

Pansh will probably come out with a copy that doesn't work out of the bag for you to waste time fixing.

With every right. This is bleeding edge technology. Just because you can’t afford it doesn’t make it over priced.

It is quite an interesting kite. 2 rows is quite extreme. 3 rows is quite easy to design for I think and is surprising it is hardly done. Flysurfer is known for some innovations that are not all they are promised. Considering bridle drag is a tiny fraction of total drag, maybe 5% with the ultra thin lines on race kites, it is chasing some quite diminishing returns. Then given the use of stiffening rods adds much weight and makes packing a pain. The rear bridle placement is quite far forward, I would guess at 75% of cord, or maybe less... I am not sure relaunch will be good or work at all, but then maybe for racing it is designed not to relaunch. You crash when racing and I guess you have already lost.

I didn't say I can't afford it or it's overpriced, no need to be a dick about it.

Then I don't understand your point unless you were just stating the obvious??

Ok, so let's be friends again, not waisting this topic with bad words :remybussi:

And yes it is expensive for sure. Can't find the prices for the VMG1 but as I remember it was relevant higher than allready sonic race (still on hp), so maybe they have even lowered them a bit.

In every case they are not higher but quite same level as for example ozone r1 v4 (one of the fishnets  ) So could be worse.

They also lowered the number of cells which can be also a reason to keep costs under control. And maybe even inner structure apart from the rips is less complex as in comparable kites where sometimes 3 cells are bridged without bridle points.
