Also unlike normal foil kites, these single skins sit pretty good on the edge of the wind window attached to a fixed point like an inflatable. Doesn’t bounce around as much and is easily manageable.
This 👍. I dont use a flag out line with my peaks (they dont go very far if you releass completely in anycase, they just wait in the water.

Usually just drop them at edge of window, in a wind shadow is best. And using tether landing works well when wind is really strong.

Assuming it's not an emergency, where in the window would you put the kite before flagging it so as to minimize twists and tangles?

I'm still not 100% sure about my landings, when there is a bush or an other tube kite parked on the beach, I can crash land it in its wind shadow, but on flat and exposed beach, and decent wind, I can sometimes have bits of kite catching wind again and tumbling downwind, with a few twists. I've had a few times where I put my board on the beach, and crash-dropped the kite at edge of window just in front of the board so that it gets caught in it safely once it tumbles back.
I was super confident with solo landings on my tube kites, but the Peaks feel like a bit of creative landing at times. (even if it always works out all good in the end).
I use P4 on snow in quite strong wind. I need reride. I.E. flag pack and then unpack and continue. I was putting big hope in B-safe - 5 th line reride option. It just doesnt work as consistent as single front line flag. one front line is no drama to tangle from any position. At least my experience. It can be different when bridals get caught which it doesnt on snow.

Also on a rear line?
It can work but back line isnt as strong /bridal wise/ and i expect much more helicoptering. There is reason back line was abandoned as flag line. On SLE wave kite it pulls like truck f.e.
But Peak is imo least sentisitive kite for flag line - and maybe can handle even backline flag

I have to try it, test it then, as this is the only easy way on most of my hydrofoil specific bars :D

Assuming front line flag out from the edge of the window in well powered conditions. How much is the difference in result between having the flag line at the top compared to having the flag line at the bottom?

I dont know (yet).

Not knowing, I would fly the kite low to the ground tip touching, and grab the lower rear line, pull in a lot, and see what happens.

Expect it to tumble downwind without power - we'll see

probably not much difference. Might flip a little more if the kite flags bottom side down as it wont lose its profile. Releasing to the lower front line would likely be better. I have been just grabbing the front lines and giving them a bit of a tug as I steer it into the ground while also stepping toward the kite and it generally flags profile down. The potential for tangling is really contingent on if it slides and tumbles downwind from there. So far not much, but as mentioned, you could use your board (pointy sharp bits pointed downwind) as a slide stop that would likely work quite well until your in serious wind. Of course I could see that going wrong if the bridle catches your foil and the kite is still powered, so for moderate conditions and at your own risk!

Don't think I would ever try to back it down in high winds. Worst case would use the SFL and deal with whatever tangles result. In that video it did one simple loop on the way down. Not much issue.

They do sit nicely on a wingtip, so I think I would opt for tether landing in high wind whenever possible. They dont have much pull flying off just the front lines, so even using your harness with your foil board on top might be enough. Maybe a pile of sand on your board.

The usable wind range is pretty low per meter of kite on these so I dont forsee myself getting into too much trouble. If there is any real risk because its cranked right up or your looking at a squall, just put it in the drink.

Thanks for replies re top of bottom flagging. Sadly I don't understand much German but I was not convinced that the kite was fully flagged out in the video; the bar did not seem to travel quite far enough to fully slack the redundant lines. Still pretty benign!

So who of you uses the connect bar without b-safe? I thought you did Peter?
If you remove it then there is nothing left for your leash to connect to, at least I can't find any instructions on connecting the line to one of the centre or backlines.
Am I correct?

Was out today on the 5m in 13-15 knots, when it got fickle I changed to my Hyperlink 9m
But had a blast on the 5 practicing foot switches. Thought it would be easier strapless but it was harder for me!

Missed it, sorry...

Was out 5 hours today with 4 and 8 m2 in waves and wide beach, but forgot to test rear line flag out, had all opportunities, simply forgot, my bad.
