I can attest given two sketchy landings over sand and shell beaches in Norfolk. Currently have a love/hate relationship with my Souls but not quite putting them on eBay.
Why not just water land it then? A wet kite does suck but better than worrying about damaging it on shells.

This is one of my winter launch spots.

I have to make sure that there are no sticks or rocks snagging on the bridles, but haven't had much trouble with canopy tears.p

I've also tried this to make this a little easier on the kite and bridles. It sort of works.

That’s a challenging place to launch/land your kite, but it looks like you manage it well :thumb:

yea and i bet sometimes when you land the wind moves slightly and it lands abit off the sheet , but great idea -my local beach often has broken razor shells ,and they are a pain , i normally pick them up where i intend to land , but that patch can be a bit off when i land sometimes , lol

I also water start more and more. In knee deep water with a bit of practice it is easy, and maybe even safer than on land in strong winds, because the wet fabric makes the kite heavier and if you get dragged / lifted you only hit soft water. Of course you can't launch from window egde, same with any relaunch in water.

After the session the kite is dry with the hope of finding a person to help, or I land it in water close to shore and if I manage to pull it in before water gets inside, it makes drying a lot easier.

I just made a video this morning about my sand bag, pvc hook assisted foil kite landings.
