Now I've had 3 sessions on my new ChronoV4 13m.
I really like the new material. It's feels super light and durable. Performance wise it's more like the R1. I've tried both all-around settings and twitip settings. With the TT settings the bar pressure is almost like the V3. The kite feels loser on the bar and steering but turns nice. The lift feels less punchy then the V3. Hard to say which kite lift more but I would give it to the V3. Might be that it's a different technique. The biggest concern for me is that it pivot turns easy when you turn hard and it drops you down quickly.
This makes it hard to heliloop which I like to do a lot.
The V3 has never had this issue. I think the V4 is super nice for foiling. It's super smooth and very easy on the bar.
I still have my V3 and might keep it.
Would like to hear/see more reviews what other experienced Chrono kiters think.
I came pretto close to bying a Chrono V2 but steered away from it after similar experience a few years back. Coming from years of riding Edge, I always relied on that late fwd-loop to give a plush landning. Trying that on the V2 easilly stalled the tip and had the kite dropping me like a stone. Looking at what Ozone have written about the V4 design kind of leads me to thinking they have gone towards a racier spec, the tips appears less in surface as well making me think more of the R1. This would seem to match my experience of the V2, which also felt like a more race-ish and airflow-sensitive wing with the behaviour you describe. Fast, efficient, pointing high, but sensitive to tip-stall att high steering inputs. Sounds like typical high-AR race-kite behaviour to me. Pure speculation of course.

for a change a new product video that declares real new features, the bridal changes are big, the new material and tweaked shape moving towards the R1 are real changes, and they talk about the change that I spotted straight away as soon as I got the kite up, the instant bar to kite reaction, very quick very direct,
cant wait to try flying my 11mtr on shorter lines than my 23mtr, (15mtr?18mtr or 20mtr)
I did feel that boosting was either the same or better than the v3, I hope its even more like the R1 which is of course the king of boosting, I recommend any chrono user to get a go on the R1, so easy to use and the boosting will amaze, float is unreal, pity the bridals are race type, as I would get the 9mtr R1 if the bridals were more like the chrono ones, (I hope they bring out a smaller chrono in the future)
Hope to get the kite out soon as the winds have been mostly unsuitable for the 11mtr since my first and only V4 session a few weeks back, maybe today fingers crossed.

Would have preferred if Rob Whittle had presented the Chrono V4, just personal preference really!
Not sure that I’m in the market for the V4 as my V1’s work just fine for my needs.

It mean V4 is already as ultra light? No separate UL version of Chrono v4 will be released?

Yes. Chrono V4 is only available in one fabric -it's equivalent in weight to the Chrono V3 Ultralight.

its is actually lighter, I weighed my new 11mr chrono v3 ulight , naked and new it was 1.96kg

my brand new and naked 11mtr v4 chrono, new cloth, new bridals, more cells, is 1.82kg

had it out today in winds starting at12mph and building to 20++mph,
foilboard 120, with 633 wing set, flat water lagoon, feels very much as the v3 when boosting, sort of 2nd kick half way up, then pull in hard just to soften the landing to keep the board dry, will not fly downwind like the R1, but the frame is more stable, with a tiny bit of wing tip tuck if you spin the kite too hard and choke it, the r1 will easily tuck a wing tip if you do the same, getting up is so fast, the lift generated by a even a lazy over head forward movement of the kite lifts me hard and fast out of the water, I do need to speed the kite up though, my lines at 23mtr really do feel too long, today using them got annoying as I knew I was not experiencing the best the kite has to offer me,and I was sailing on quite a narrow lagoon with the wind blowing down the length, so really needed more speed through the air and turns.
its just too cold in my garage to get to work sorting out my spare bar with removable lengths to go down in steps to 15mtr, minus 2c today, brrrr!
had to self land my kite in stiff wind today and I do believe the small bridle prevented the lines balling up in a knot at the far wing tip as I had to flag out and walk up one front line and then pile on a load on sand to hold down the upwind wing tip, the downwind tip did flap but the lines stayed free from tangle, winner!

Why would someone choose to ride a kite like these on a twintip, besides extreme light wind? That exceeds my comprehension. Can someone enlighten please?

Lofty jumps with soft landings. Wanting a simplified quiver. Easier to travel. No pump maintenance.

15 v4 vs v3.

Nearly identical center chord. Slightly smaller in span and more elliptical. V4 probably 1/3 m2 smaller. Much less bridle. B and C bridle attachments are farther back. No bridles on wingtip. Larger vent mesh and fewer vents.

Both get going on hydrofoil in the lightest of wind. Bar pressure is constant for a greater range of sheeting in V4. That is to say the lines become slack sooner as you sheet out on V3. V4 is more likely to frontstall on launch if you are not careful to let it fill. Both have zero drama once inflated and riding. Both fly far foreword. Both have the ride fast, depower and crank upwind feeling. V3 may turn a little faster. V4 has more of an elevator feeling when you send it. It’s Mario vs Luigi I guess. Overall they share the same DNA and the feeling is more similar than different. The water repellant cloth makes a big difference in relaunch but it is still possible to get the V4 to drink if you are careless.
