Ozone closed cell foil kites are (at least were) famous to collect fine sand to trailing edge, not sure Chrono V4 though if bad design has been upgraded. I've never observed such behavior with my Flysurfer kites.
What's different in Flysurfer's design that prevents sand building up in the trailing edge?

Mostly just experience(Flysurfer has been making foil kites for a LONG time) but I also think it had to do with how it was stitched.

Remember Ozone released a water kite that didn’t even have the ability to drain water(no exit holes) before.

And if this is like the hyperlink, where basically the only thing new is the fabric, that’s a sad new generation.

Just a couple reasons of MANY why Flysurfer is the better brand.

This statement is completely untrue. The Hyperlink V2 had many more design changes than just the fabric.
For me this fake news casts doubt on the impartiality of your posts and opinions.

Like Speed 4 Lotus?

I thought the Lotus cloth was a big step up even if people gripes the design was the same as Speed3.

And I think the weight reduction compared to V3 and Sonic3 is going to represent a substantial improvement.

Hard to tell from the photos but it looks like the outline is a little different so time will tell.

Please do tell me what else what changed besides using the new fabric for all sizes and maybe a couple tweaks otherwise? I’m not shy about my opinion, Ozone is just inferior. Designs, customer service, and prices.

And again, no adjustable bridle unless you pay more?? What, they’re not expensive enough already. And before you start defending their “unshrinkable” bridle, an adjustable bridle isn't just great to get your kite tuned back to near new performance, but it also allows you to tune your kite to your liking and that’s a huge plus most don’t talk about.

That is true but that was also like what at least 5 years ago plus the Lotus really was a revolutionary fabric, can you say the same with this new fabric?

I’m not sure how much helpful the slightly lighter cloth will help though. You already said that the problem with your V3 is getting you up, not staying in the air and I’m not sure how being a lighter kite will help in that regard.

Never had any sand in the TE of my Chrono V1’s but did noticed sand in the TE of my R1 V1 that I purchased second hand. The sand was of a super fine consistency and as such had passed between the stitches. I could actually hear the sand cascading throughout the canopy. I undid the TE stitching in the areas most affected and removed the sand with a vacuum cleaner, then re-stitched the hem with a shorter stitch. Not had the problem since. Not sure if FS glue their seams before stitching and or what technique they employ when stitching TE seams.

What is the rubbish here talking about sand in the trailing edge?
All foil kites that have air vents will get sand inside, unless you just use on snow or lakes, sand particals get blown into all open spaces when near the ground, especially foil kite air intakes when wind and dry sand is blowing around, ears eyes pockets hoods cars, especially cars and vans,
It's easy to remove if want to, hang up the kite on a garden clothes line trailing edge down,
Keep the kites ears high,
Using a hose pipe through the vents fill up the trailing edge with a good amount of water, then holding up the trailing edge high from the middle let the water flush out any sand out through the ear vents, rince and repeat until good and clear,
So easy to do, and should form part of a normal maitainace and care routine,
All my ozone kites have a drain vent between all cells right at the bottom on the trailing edge,
So much crap is voiced by what I recognise as dealer talk and others who just try to spread misinformation.

Hi Foil. I think they are referring to sand trapped in the trailing edge seam like in the photo below.

I have never had this issue with my 13m Ozone Chrono V3 Ultralight.

@foil - I know you have owned several foil kites from both Ozone and Flysurfer -- have you personally seen this issue in any of your kites?

We are talking different area and no need to be that aggressive.. And I'd not rinse sand from cells itself, it will exit over time when flying.

arrr, ok I can see that now, wow that pic is a bad ingress of sand for sure,
just checked my hyperlinks v1 and V2s and not a grain to be found, no dust or anything, totally clear.
on my yellow v3 chrono the same story, however i did have to look closely as the yellow trailing edge at first looked like it may have a few tiny patches of trapped sand dust but a little rub of a damp cloth removed the offending dark dirt i sometimes pick up up from the sand around the merseyside beach areas,
i did look very closely to try a find out if there was any sticky tape in there sealing off the tiny edge, but failed to detect anything and was just able to rub the cloth to see free movement in the folded cloth edge.
sorry if my post was edgy, but i was so wound up when I opened the thread and read each post in turn to see the normal rubbish about ozone kites and bridals are just rubbish and flysurfer souls are far superior, and as one of the few who has owned both recent models of free ride kites then i have my own conclusions, and when you have owned and used these recent model of kites, all hyperlinks and chrono v3 (not the earlier 2 versions then you do appreciate the quality of the ozone bridals and orbit pulleys along with the adjustable z line which according to true owners is the one and only line adjustment owners ever have to adjust over years of heavy use.
all this "heavy bridal" work and the Ulight v3 chrono 9mtr was still .4kg lighter than my new 9mtr soul
I have noticed that the v4 chrono has 25% less bridal! wow! It was not a big bridal anyways.
all modern free ride kites have come a long way over the years, I still shudder when I think of the other 5 models of foil kites I have owned in the past years,
2 speed 3s dlx, a copy of the speed 3(evil black and red colours looked awesome) but it was awful in light airs, cant remember its name now, the North Ace never lit my fire either, the old blade foil kites were crazy good and bad at the same time, snapped 2 bars using them, got rid before they killed me.
