Hey All,
Its almost winter and snow kiting and gliding season for us here in utah, which means i need a new bar and lines or a new set of lines for my fs soul 15m, has anyone tried a slingshot bar (they have them for 300 for bar and lines right now) with their soul kites? We do glide relatively big and safety is my biggest concern, i cannot afford any catastrophic failure in bar or lines, aka bar breaking or line snapping.

No idea of the durability of the SS bar but any normal 4 line, low Y bar will work. You want equal lines to 2cm shorter read lines depending on your preference.

Just make sure that front line safety is long enough to allow Soul to flag out. If bar cannot travel far enough you get a looping kite.

Do you know how long that flag out length needs to be?

I’m not for sure but I think it needs to release at least half the length of the foil. I know it’s on the forum somewhere and I’m sure on flysurfer.com you can easily find the answer.

Exact travel, go to Flysurfer site and download lineplan. From plan you can see the safety line knot location which bar should travel on safety.
General advise would be the wingspan of the kite. But too much travel could not be wished as other side bridle would be too loose and wrap around the kite in worst situatio.

No joriws, you don`t get the info from the lineplan. There are only the lines above the mixer. FS Bar set up must work for 6m to 21m , the stopper knot is set for the biggest kite , from memory 10.5m.
Armins rule of thumb : Half the wing span , plus 1m

Looks like fs dropped it from line plan when they went selling kite only.
For example Speed4 lotus 15 has knot position in mm resolution on lineplan table.
Maybe the half span from web specs plus 1m is a good starting point.

So with the bar trimmed for full power and sheeted all the way in the lines should be equal. The Soul likes the steering lines up to 2cm shorter so if she’s turning too slow for you with them all equal, try shortening the back lines up a little.
