I had a short go on the 8 hydrofoiling on 10 knots back to back with my 8m V1. As said is very similar to Soul V1. I think V2 may be a little more stable when body dragging. It’s hard to say if it’s design change or just a new more airtight kite? The new cloth is nice. It has a similar slippery feel but higher density if ripstop fibers. The bridle is similar single braid. The LE stiffener twigs stop just past the last vent whereas the V1 continues with twigs in cells closer to the wingtip.

It’s fun to fly and powerful for its size - a worthy successor. I’m glad because at times Flysurfer has taken big risks in updating a kite to the point that a new model name would be in order. This Soul is a Soul.

Thanks to my friends at kiteboarding.com for the demo.

Anyone knows how that reduction in projected area when depowered is being done technically/physically?
Something with the towpoints far outside?
I believe the profile is less stable and faster, possibly resulting in a controlled front stall. Maybe bridling maybe cell shape? The cell adjuster PMA hold a clue of some sort.

In the soul V1 and V2 the action appears to happen in the shoulders rather than the wingtips.

Looking at bridal design and pulleys it seems as if depowering kite is changing kite angle of attack, this affects kite position in WW and affects shape but I think it starts with change of angle and rest of are consequences not causes.
Thanks! Yes AoA change and also camber is induced by the mixer and attachment points very straight forward, and the rest (change in projected area is maybe as you say rather a consequence then a cause, another thing that came to my mind when looking at an old video:

It might have also to do with the straight trailing edge which we have in SOUL also, of course it was more extreme or even swept back in the psycho, hence maybe the larger effect. What do you think?

The Soul is an amazing kite and kudos to Flysurfer for improving it with the V2.

Rather than a Soul Pro, I would like to see a Speed 6 with an aspect ratio between the Soul and the Sonic with the best DNA from both. Plus a 23m for snow kiting. Yes, there really is a need for light wind/deep powder days.

From the Soul
1. Stable
2. Swooping turn
3. Light tough fabric

From the Sonic
1. Light bar pressure
2. Less thick for better inflation/deflation, and one hole.
3. Better drainage
4. Thin bridles

I agree would be nice if FS released something in between the Soul and the Sonic3.

I wonder if the Gin Spirit was designed to fit in between the Soul and Sonic in this way.

Soul AR: 5.0 - 6.0
Gin Spirit AR: 5.8 - 6.1
Sonic3 AR: 6.6 - 7.2

The Ozone Chrono V4 has an AR of 6, kinda fits the bill as well.

ParAAvis Smile 3. Aspect ratio of 6.5, between Speed 5 and Sonic. Maximum size of 15m though.

1. Stable. Check.
2. Swooping turn. Check.
3. Light tough fabric. 32g Dominico Soul-like fabric. Check.
4. Light bar pressure. Not light, but in my opinion it's just right. At least way lighter than Soul's.
5. Less thick for better inflation/deflation, and one hole. Check.
6. Better drainage. Not sure about that one.
7. Thin bridles. Check.

Buuut it doesn't seem to be sold internationally. Plus I had to wait for 2.5 months for it to be sewn. Plus god who knows the delivery time if sold abroad. Although it seems like some russian folks from Canada have managed to snatch some ParAAvis kites, at least Drive 2.
