Peak4 B-Safe line length?

Postby MartinO » Sat Jan 23, 2021 10:47 am

This is probably covered in the Peak4 thread several times already, but I can´t find it among the 200 pages of info...

Does anyone know how long the 5th line should be (compared to the other 4 lines) on a Peak4 (5 sqm if that matters) to connect to the B-Safe system? I have the Y-split that was included in the package, but so far, I use a homemade 4 line bar. I have noticed that landing in high winds when snowkiting creates such a line mess that I basically cannot restart the kite anymore without spending an unwanted amount of time untangling the lines. I thought to try the B-safe and see if that simplifies things.

Thankful for any tips.

The 5th is the same length as the other 4. I have used a 5 line kite attitude bar on it and it works.

Exactly, on Peak4 own bar (was it connect, I have it but don't remember the name) you can use 5th line, or connect safety to one of frontlines to FLS (front line safety). So 5th line is as long as your other frontlines on your bar.

To be more precise: The Connect Bar has 21m backlines .The frontline has the split 7m above the bar, into two 14m Y .
The B Safe DC500 is 7,10m+9,12m+Endline (length unknown, i guess 5m).In total 16,22+ Endline(5m). Keep in mind that FS has build a system to lenghten this line for about 10-15cm to prevent getting a too short 5th over the time.

Min 6.00

If you want i can measure the 5th of my bar

A very comfy solution for users of the Y, is a system to disconnect the two Y lines from the main bottom line. This can be donne via larks head over ring etc. Very handy to undrill, untangle the Y from the 5th.I made the 5th of a thin DC161 , bevore i used an old DC301 which i found too draggy

Same length as the other 4 lines plus the length of the chicken loop to the front line as the 5th line attach further down.
