Ummm,
U are 86kg and dreaming about the power?
Mate, we have 110kg+ kiter who owned Dynos in biggest sizes and killing it on surfboards AND tt's...Also 20years kiting. Its not the kite u need. Its the wind.
Location, location, location....
I kite with this guy (fernmanus) and he definetly makes it look good on huge kites. I weigh way more than him and make a 15m work when in light wind, and he is on 4m bigger than me. And every one can tell that I am "making it work", while he is really enjoying it.
But it is a fair criticism of him that he is unique in this skill. So it is definetly a small market.
The big take away is that if you move to a higher wind area, for wind....sure you have better wind, but you lose out on "location". Even in good wind locations, having a big kite and the skill to use it will get you out to enjoy it before the other kiters can.

Not sure how much it costs to develop and produce a slightly larger version but it's probably a pretty small market.
You need people:
* Who don't use a hydrofoil
* Want to ride in marginal winds
* Have the cash to spend 3K on a kite
* Who prefer a sonic over something like a Soul
* Actually adds revenue to the market: ( if they just buy the 21m instead they don't lose out on a sale )
* Who prefer some extra power over a kite that is somewhat faster to maneuver
I think the market is pretty darn small.
Agree fully - even the 21 m2 Sonic 3 market is darn small I think, so kudoz to FS for launching this one, as it is not a freeride kite nor a full racekite, and too big for hydrofoiling and average weights in general

I have a mate who weighs 75kg and he has just ordered the 21. I think it's a mistake, but I will happily test it for him @110kg

I also agree with leeuwen. The 21m targets a niche market and this niche is even shrinking because more and more people are switching to HF. As amazing as this kite is, I would think twice about buying one because you will have a lot of troubles selling it in a few years.

at some point it would be cheaper to lose weight than buy a kite that would have little resale value
I have 15m Soul, where I can image owning 18m for 10kts on TT I can't think of many occasions when on my local spot wind is less than 10kts but yet stable not to drop below 6kts.

The 15 mtr Sonic 3 has a large wind range, I’ve used mine in 15 knots on my racefoil. I currently need 10 knots for tacks, that is foot switch and no downloop. Im sure I’ll get better with practice but it would be nice to have a kite I could tack in under 10 knots, just needs the lift to support you through the tack.
With the VMG 2 purely a race kite, full length battons, thin bridles, delicate, Flysurfer has no large kite for training or free race, I think the 21 Sonic 3 will fill the spot nicely.

I'm not sure Sonic will fill that gap for Hydrofoiling ..its still too heavy sub 10 ..I think larger Sonic is better for TT/door and VMG/Chrono for LW

My Sonic FR 18m is still my most favorite large foil for TT. I have thought about getting a new one just for fun. But like others say it won’t be much use for hfing.
I’m sure they will build you a 23m if you request it.

I was interested to see race foilers using 21m Ozone RV1s in Cabarete. However, they were often out in around 5 or 6 knots & up to perhaps 10 to 12 knots. A few knots more & I was out on my 4m Peak4. Crazy. Really like two completely different sports.

True, it is like two different sports, you can hold a shit load of power on a race foil and really need it through tacks and off the wind.
I can use my 15 mtr Sonic 3 or my 4.8 Cloud, same wind just different foil. But I’m doing over 25 knots on the Sonic, not so much on the Cloud.
