I want to try the peak for freestyle to be honest. Nobody unhooks with it but I bet it has a lot of pop since it sits so deep. Then after I crash my kite and tangle my lines, I'll swim in and spend an hour on the beach fixing the bridles.
I’ve been kiting since 2003. Have had 30+ kites in that time. All different kinds. TT, SB and now surf foil. Theses are just a few reasons why they are my favourite so far. In no particular order:
It’s cheaper
It’s smaller
It turns faster
It turns better when depowered
It drifts better
It stays up better
It packs smaller
It sets up faster
It packs down faster
It’s easier to self launch/land in tight spots
It doesn’t need a pump
It won’t leak
It can be tomahawked with no damage, as in it won’t pop
It won’t death loop
It won’t loft you
It’s better for teaching
It’s easier to fly
It’s easier to drift launch in non kite spots
But mostly it’s more fun to ride with and even without any of the bonus attributes, it’s my favourite based on flight character alone.

What the hell are you talking about. It’s not the best kite ever made by far. It’s good but far from the best.
dude i only wanted comments from people that LOVE the kite.
Personally for my style of riding it's underpowered, doesn't boost, doesn't relaunch blah blah blah. I'm set in my ways and have always hated what the peak meant. I'm trying to f***ing understand why anyone loves it.
Thanks to all the comments I think I finally do understand the kite and why so many people love it. The reasons are all listed above. What I didn't want was anyone bellyaching that the peak sucked blah blah blah. I just wanted to hear what committed owners of the kite who love it, what they had to say and they have been very kind in commenting. I have learned a tremendous amount about the kite.
I’d say people love it for on/off power, light weight and compact packing, ease of repair and decent power/turning. Not speaking of staying in the air in barely any wind
I flew Peak 3 on couple of occasions, foiled with a 9m when everyone else disappeared from water already. It was a good try, but it’s not my favorite kite.
There were several Peak threads here, I’m sure you saw them and there are many people who like small peaks for foiling, obviously not for jumping or questionable relaunch on water.
It’s a good kite for snow or land.
I did an incredible downwinder with my wave tt and the 4m (with a friend that had a 7m and a tt). We both weigh a bit more than 80kg. This was in a controlled huracane environment (with the correct side onshore wind) along our sand coast. It was fantastic since I can self launch and land at this wind speeds. My limit was when I we arrived at a destination and couldn’t stay upwind. At this point, I just dived it into the water, and walked out. So... Fantastic for downwinders in a huracanes jaja
