(test) Sky Country Spirit v2

Postby Regis-de-giens » Sun Oct 17, 2021 4:58 pm

I was quite curious when a friend reseller told me that he discovered Sky Country from Ukraine, and after a short chat , I decided to give it a try and took the risk to buy one, based on its features:
- double skin foilfkite
- free ride with limited aspect ration (5.5) , like Pulsion, Frs, etc ...
- light weight despite the 36 gr cloth.
- competitive price below the majors
- good result of this company in a snow kite very famous race (1st place with a race model)

So I aked for special order : a 12m spirit2 with 32 gr cloth (not 27 gr since it will not be my marginal wind kite)

Order mid - July, received mid October ...

I have put it in the air this afternoon in very light wind 4-6 knots; it is very encouraging and flies very well in marginal wind ...

Loop in smooth, very stable: it drifts well in lulls and keep its shape when going downward with full slack-lines. I love this feature. Loop is powerful comparable to a pulsion ;

I give it a try "just to see" on my 1200 cm2 hydrofoil, despite my friend on the beach betting that will not succeed with a 12m( foil teacher)

After several loops, It worked, I had to pump, ok, even foil UP and in straight line , so it was just for the challenge ... 100 m then and I get back to the beach, dry kite; i was impressed .

So for now I can just tell that the low end is excellent, that is is stable and seems a easy kite in light wind

Nice looking kites . A few friends of mine fly there paragliding wings . It would be nice to know if it keeps out the water like a FS soul2 my friends sits on the water for looong periods of time and relaunches with minimum water in it .

Indeed paraglider spécialist!

Thez have one race model , closed cells as well, that won a very famous snowkite race among all other brands. It is at least a sign that their kites shall not be crap! Knowing that a high ratio kite is even easier to build...

Hi Regis, off-topic...but actually which is your preference for marginal light winds?... I am still stoked with the 12m pulsion. With a surf Foil it can ride in just a breeze (I wont give number...)

my preference is currently the Pulsion 18 m , then Pulsion 15m, then Pulsion 12m (standard , not S for the marginal wind), in 27gr /m2.

Sky country Spirit V2 seems an excellent challenger but I need further test.

What is the "S"?

Standard is 27 g/m2 you write, so is S a Superlight in 24?
Or did you mean your 18 was in 27 and an "S" model, and your 12 is standård which is 32 or 38/40?

Ben's website does not reveal much....

I have the Pulsion in 15 m2 and 27 g/m2 which is what most brands name UL for UltraLight, eventhough today I got a 24 g/m2 kite, much better and have to be called "Mega" light or what?

Confusing...

8) Peter

Here is the email from the Sky Country agent : Eric Lespagney : sky.country.kites.fr@gmail.com
Best is to contact him and the country and related conditions for the expedition.
I Know that for France, the 12 m costs 900€ + 50€ shipment. + possible custom fees . The 9 m costs 800€ and the 15 m costs 1000€.
For the lightest cloth 32gr or 27gr on my 12m, price was + 120 euro.
