So finaly on board. As you maybe know im one of first peak foilers. I have 3 4 5 6 p4 and 4 5 p5 now.
Im spending summer in windy place so lots of time for comparing.
So here is my take p4 vs p5.
Firstly its not all positive. Almost oposite. Im little bit sad.
…
Moral of story
I like to buy new old stock p4
I have 3m/5m peak4, and 4m peak5. Same experience. On paper, the peak5 “sounds” like a better kite- better relaunch, more peak power for starts, less flapping, etc. but in practice the peak5 just doesn’t have the magic that the peak4 has. The peak4 is a magical kite with some serious compromises. The peak5 got rid of some of the compromises and most of the magic. It is still a seriously compromised kite, but without any really strong redeeming factors. I’ve heard that flysurfers have to break in with several hours of flying time, and I’m hoping that is it.
As of now, I would recommend against upgrading.

It might seem like kind of the same story as when they changed from Peak 2 to Peak 3 (I started kiting on a P1 6m, had many models & sizes since). The Peak 2 was a magic kite, and while model 3 had some improvments, in total it wasn't the most succesful upgrade (1 pulley instead of 2 in the mixer - too much bar pressure especially). The Peak 4 has some important improvements over earlier models, but the Peak 2 is stil a magic old kite (the 9 & the 6 meter at least).
If someone wants more upwind performance, maybe try the BornKite Racestar+ ?

Was it too gusty for my 8m Peak5 today?
I’m new to the Peaks, today was session #4 or #5 for me on my 8m.
While gearing up, the wind increased some, I went out and gave it a try. Wind was on the upper end for the 8m and hydrofoil, maybe 12-13kts. The wind was inconsistent but I would not say real gusty just a little gusty.
The left wingtip collapsed a couple of times making it hard to steer, once both wingtips collapsed. After 10min, I had enough and went in and pumped up my Moto.
I had no problems at all on the previous sessions on my Peak!
I checked the lines, and bridles on the Peak, everything looks okay.
Was it the inconsistency of the wind that was causing this?
Thanks,
Dave

The P4 does de same on high level of turbulence, you can be in its highend and have no wingtip folds.... And and have them on lower level of wind if there is a lot of turbulence.
Flysurfer tech depart gave a Tip(*) to solve it on the P4. If in your spot you experience this issue frecuently is better to ask them.

I’m new to the Peak and have had 6 session on my new Peak 5 8m. During the last three session I have had trouble with the left wingtip collapsing in flight. Today the wind was 9-11kts (not gusty) and the left wing tip collapsed 3 or 4 times, never the right wingtip. I replaced my center bar lines after the first session I had trouble.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Dave

Have you checked the camber trim? The userguide of peak5 has a chapter about it.
If you checked the trim and it still tipfolds, you could try to trim out some camber. I think that was the solution on peak4.

Sorry for asking obvious question, but did you double check the bridle? Sometimes even a twist in the pulleys part of the mixer can make it weird. As you get used to the kites, you'll get better at spotting issues in the mixer, and solving them.

I had this 4 sessions before I figured out a single bridle was wrapped around the b-safe span line causing it to pull a tip in. Never had that on a peak 4, worth checking.

I had this also first two sessions on my P5 6m. I was gonna finally check my bridle when it sorted itself. I usually just pull Flysurfer kites out of the bag new without checking anything.

Reply from Flysurfer:
(I’m not real happy if I have to put a knot in a new kite bridle):
“ Good morning
sounds like one side is longer than the other.
Please hang the 4 mains of the kite on one point and compare on the kite under approx. 5kg a1 left to a1 right etc.
Then please tie a trim knot on the longer side, then I think the kite will fly properly again. In addition, you can check the mixer beforehand, not that the B or C is too wide open on one side.”
