Nice difference with the Peak5 is the inclusion of the "sparepart" lines in the repair kit bag. The parts of the mixer that run through the pulleys, and that do wear out eventually.
I was desperately trying to make a replacement for the critically frayed one from my 8m Peak4, and like a miracle, it was just there in the bag of the 5m. 20mn job to replace that, and boom, like new!

My favorite bar is the liquid force V2 mission control bar...
Obsolete.
That one was low v.
My impression is that the Peak 4 is more sensitive to the bar tuning than anything else, and the recommended bar is high v, so I really do not know.
A friend of mine let me try his peak kite on a Flysurfer Connect bar, and it was horribly out of tune, but pretty easy to fix...

IMO Peak kites are not sensitive at all, low or high V short or long lines everything works just great.
Short sheeting distance yes, but every 4 lined bar will work

In my experience the Y height does make a difference in turning speed (the higher, the faster). Just make sure not to place the Y too high, or you will break the c1 bridles (I broke mine on my 4m, 5m and 6m PEAK4s). The optimal position of the Y is 14m from the bridle attachment, as it is on the Connect bar.
I use a Duotone v-distributor to place the Y anywhere I want on all of my bars.

I'm posting here because I was asking if I should get the v4 or v5. I got lucky and a friend sent me his old Peak 4 in 6m size to try out. First time on the water today. I am absolutely thrilled. It lives up to the hype. The drift is amazing. Not just for folks to go downwind on waves. It is a treat to do wide jibes and not worry to slack the lines. We only had small swells to play with but I got a taste of it. A Peak will be in my foil quiver. Also fun not to have to pump a kite for a change. Thanks for the help here.

The advantages of the new gen is worth it. I would definitely go for the Peak5.

Just get the one you can get the fastest
Very subtle differences.
Getting out on the water soon, is most important.

Personally I think the differences are a little more than subtle. The increased range is just worth it unless you plan on a full quiver. The upper range is better on the 5 as well which is really nice, the reduced fluttering helps with arm fatigue and kite longevity. All worthy updates.

Thanks, I shall eventually get a Peak 5 but for now I will keep trying the Peak 4 until I know for sure that I wan to keep a Peak in my quiver. For now, after my first session, I am very encouraged. I need to still play with the water relaunch. For now it is "don't drop the kite" priority and only ride side to onshore conditions.

Does somebody have the Connect 2 bar? The Flysurfer site is not that clear on what changed/improved form the previous. It looks like it's got a blue 5th line of slightly different material. But if that's all I might buy an older bar at a discount.
