Hi,
need your kind advice ...
I would like to complete my quiver by a 13-14m performant "race" or "performant freerace" kite, second hand , budget 500-700 euros. Objective is to gain speed in freeride between 6 and 9 knots and send high and long jumps in hydroil (between 6 and 9 knots) and TT board (10 to 17 knots) ; I do not look for upwind nor downwind angles ; for winds lower than 6 or 7, I will use my Pulsion 18m to limit swimmings; above 10 knots I will use my elf Jocker5 11m that I like a lot, agile and performant;
I have perliminary selected :
- Sonic2 (best choice)
- R1v2 (best choice ex-aequo)
- F-one diablo 4
- possibly PL Aero 14m
I would like to focus on 'easy' jumps, meaning tolerant timing , agility to prepare the landing quite late. (with PL Aero 17m , it was so slow turning that with my light 62 kg , I had to send the kite before reaching the top, I disliked), and stability if landing is not perfect.
Who had tested several of these models and which one would you recommend ?

Best chance to restore any bridle changes to good flying conditions with Sonic2. Plus lofty jumps as you seek.

Ok,few answers ... none has done a comparing test ? I also could catch a Slingshot Phantom at good price ; it seems even more race oriented but I have no real review except someone comparing to ... LEI's ; so, any personal feedbacks on the slingshot ? (in 15m in this case)

I only know that the SS Phantom is based on an Elf.
The Sonic2 has the advantage that there is a line plan to restore the bridle length and it has the "PMAs" these helps a lot to prevent the tips from collapsing if this would be an issue.
The S2 13m has very high AR which tends to folding tips if i lose line tension when landing hot on the hf, but it jumps extremly high when
riding fast and hitting a gust.

I may upgrade to 15m, maybe more logical in-between Pulsion 18m and Elf 11m, knowing that higher AR skips the sweet sport a bit toward higher winds for my practice. even if less agile unfortunately ...

cant go wrong with the sonic. had the sonic2 13 also, awesome hangtime and never collapsing tips as long you keep tension in the lines. upgraded to the Sonic 3 13 last spring, got no regrets, awesome kites. lots of tweaking is possible , like mentioned there are lineplans.

If you are buying used, you have to go Flysurfer unless you are willing to spend the money on replacing the bridle. 6kts on a Sonic2 13m might be stretching it though.
I haven't flown the Phantom but there's a very good reason why it didn't get far.
If the Sonic is well used, you may need to extend the Z lines since shrinkage on that level tends to cause the wing tip curling. The PMAs can fix this but it's better to do it right. Easy to do with all line lengths published.
