Flysurfer Skywalk Flare - what is it?

Postby derek440 » Sun Jan 23, 2022 4:01 am

Anyone know any more info about the new skywalk/flysurfer "Flare" go-flare.com? Looks like its a cross between a paraglider and a foil kite. I have used a foil kite on 2m lines and it behaved pretty badly. I am guessing this is a kite you can fly with paraglider type controls so you can use a board but also have a safety/eject system but also fly high with it and face forward rather than to the side like with a kite. Interesting comparisons with wing-ding also I wonder if this Flare can be used with a wing-ding board/foil.... Or maybe its closer to a speed-flying wing or a ground-handling wing. interesting.

The pics of the "Flare" where taken at the great paragliding spot dune de pilat. I think it is no coincidence that this is the homespot of
flyingcloclo, the famous kite flyer.(But don`t know if he is involved, but i gess so) I saw him flying his modded 21 Speed4 at the dune in summer 2019, amazing! I had the chance to ask him some questions about his tuned gear and why he is not using a normal glider. He said, that the changing profile of the complex mixer suits more his flying technique than the fixed profile of a glider.
There is a vid of flying with his son. Check out his channel for older vids

That first video is an old video, that's been around since Speed 3s.

Armin has been working on this for a long LONG time and I bet by now he has the relaunch down as well. Ironically I just started my paramotoring lessons so I see something like this in my future. I'm curious how this will react with a twintip or even better a foil kite attached. I can not wait!

Interesting concept, still hard to imagine how such long parakite
Can be water relaunchable and even that its lift you up from water to sky when it is wet. Also hard to imagine how it can be used with hydrofoil as you need to keep always height in very narrow range if you want to foil with this kite type. But probably it will beat all expectations and will be real magic you can fly and foil with one just kite:) that will be insane:)

probably mainly soaring maybe snowkite like some people also "kite" with paragliders as part of groundhandling practice.

I'm pretty damn sure this will also be a water kite. We shall wait and see.

Doing my paragliding license this week so this could work out nicely, I am not even sure what it is yet, but if it flies and goes on water I want one :)
