Its always interesting how different people see different attributes as positive and negative. I was out last weekend on my P4 4m and was pretty powered alongside another guy who was out on a p4 8m. He's a fairly average build and both of us were having fun in what I'm guessing was 20knots average (twin tips generally out on sizes 10 to 12m). We both seem to have very different purposes for the day. I find going as hard up and down wind as possible to be the fun bit and he was going back and forth doing jumps.
I think a lot depends on what you are used to. I have been used to getting a grunty pull feeling from LEI kites so I am having to adjust to not being able to get that from the peak. The P4 4m is my first Peak (good second hand price from a converting wing foiler) but the bedding in period has been fairly painless so far for someone who likes LEIs. For me the large comfortable feeling wind range on the 4m has been brilliant and I probably fly it in conditions you would be telling me I needed to size down but as my style doesn't involve a lot of looping - then I don't see the flapping.

For me…after all read…it boils down to:
PEAK 5m…….OR…..PEAK6m….version5
I am 110 kg and have redundant kite sizes, looking for a first single skin to hydrofoil.
2 questions
How much fun/spead factor is lost?
How much power/low end is gained?

Can't answer the above without knowing how much wind do you have? And is the wind steady or gusty?

I'll advise you to get the 6m first, but if you really like it and end up getting a 5m down the road..... you will like that one better.
Either way, just get one. Between those two, you cant go wrong and will discover that there is a whole lot to the experience.
In the end, Peaks don't suit everyone, but there certainly are a lot of people who do. Judging from the content on this forum the last few years, the Peaks seem to be the biggest innovation in kite foiling since the foil itself.

And trying a REAL Peak (smaller than 6 m2), you found it odd, or havent tried one, yet.
...
Sorry if I am all wrong, and you might simply have different likings - but it is my impression based on everything you write jkrug.
Peter
i have not tried anything smaller than the 5m. i'm sure they're great. But they are not LEI's, and therefore will not relaunch the way an LEI will. Anything above 15 knots, I'm on my LEI Uno 6M trainer kite. it is crazy fast, and relaunches with ease. it drifts well. it is by far my favorite kite for foiling. i can take it out up to around 30 knots, and then i go to Uno 4m. You may say 'but i still haven't tried the smaller Peaks', and i will reply 'but have you tried these Uno training kites?'
You are correct when you say we may have 'different likings'. For me, when it's blowing like crazy and therefore we usually have waves, i want a kite i know will relaunch instantly (or at all), and that isn't a Peak. The only reason I ever bought the 8m was because it was getting my friends out on the water when i couldn't really go with my LEIs. Is it slow? yes, but i know of no kite that i can use in 10 knots that isn't slow (i'm about 90 kgs). of course I still prefer being on my 6m Peak to my 8m Peak...smaller is always more fun.

As mentioned no wind information from op afaik.
So let's try other approach. I weight similar to op and can easily ride 1500cm2 (sab w790) foil with Peak4 5m size, when 16m2 LEI and twintip cannot ride with 80kg rider. So depending on your wind area you might want to go 5m first. My area is light winds all the summer with occasional storm of 5-7m/s. And I ordered peak5 4m so even smaller kite..

i rather get the 6, as I have a Neo 8 for 15 to 20 kn.
I also have a Chrono 11, that I like, that is going to make me learn tacks, but is slow, I like fast, light saber experience, maybe the 6 plus a neo8 will be a good travling quiver

Sorry forgot the wind question. I travel a lot, in Brazil mostly, various conditions, wind is not a factor in my mind for this selection. Fun factor, light wind is, if 5 and 6 are similar in speed, Id go for a 6

Just in case you have not considered the difference in sizeing: Peak5 6m will have the same windrange as your Neo 8m.
Peaks are flatter and the size is not the same as LEIs for the same windrange.

I believe probably yes.
But maybe will not fall from the sky in a lull, drift downwind with more comfort, not require a pump to travel.
Nobody down here uses them...lots of chit-chat...aquaintances...
Its all about discovering a new feeling...
And if the kite is fast...maybe I'll remember the CQUAD.
