These auto zenith kites were owsome...
But lacked power for its size...
With hydrofoil...maybe little less power is secondary to auto zenith...
Has any one kept one and tried them hydrofoiling?

I owned and used one in my kitecat many years ago. It was very handy to have auto zenith while trying to launch the kitecat. A 16m Venom in 32knts seemed to be the sweet spot. In my experience, these kites require higher wind. Very docile kite with huge range. I remember the strain in my arm after the session trying to prevent it auto-zenithing.

Had a full quiver back in the tt days. 16m got the most use in 15-20 knots. The 13 didn’t come alive until 20 and the 10 was fun but definitely a high wind kite. Underpowered for their size compared to tubes and slow turning meter for meter. Had to pull the trigger a good two seconds before load and pop!
We’ve come a long way, especially for foiling and now have 6m single skin kites that pull like a venom 16, turn a lot faster and tighter than a venom 10 and have heaps more instant depower. No inflate/deflate time either. The new kites are so light in the air and at the bar that at this point auto zenith would mostly be a nuisance and only be a plus if you crash hard enough to lose the bar. For normal riding it’s a PITA having to rest your top hand across the depower line on the lower side of the bar to keep the kite from climbing.
Don’t get me wrong. Had a lot of fun on venoms. Nice floaty jumps, loads of comfort in gusty wind. No pump and auto zenith was great when getting into the boots I was rockin back then!
Switched to tubes when the 9m waroo hit the scene and it was a revelation. There is just no going back. My current kites make a 9m waroo feel like a city bus!
Where I understand the appeal of the idea of auto zenith, in reality my current kites strike a much more comfortable and intuitive balance WRT hand and kite position while carving around in swell. Peaks are simple to keep in the air. The times I crash them would also be when a venom would hit the water (which they occasionally did) and my relaunch percentage on single skin is about the same.

Think of sizing similar to LEI. They are consummate high/gusty wind kites. Models like the original Phantom,Phantom 2 or F-arc are the best up winders.
F-Arcs were the closest to being a "Light wind" arc.

I have 10m, 16m, and 18m venoms ; still use them for training.
The 10m venom 1 , i use that kite in 40+kt Nasty gusty winds, to
this day ; it's a gust muncher that's paralleled by no other kite ever
made !!! The 18m was Peter lynn's personal kite.

Their gust munching is legendary. I'd hang on to those, especially that 18m!

Training?
On which craft?
I like to train people learning to kiteboard ; in the park, at
night, when there are no thermals, and the wind is light.
The Venom's are so easy to fly ; very stable !!

I got a bunch of smaller (6 to 10m) twin skins for desert buggying. Toe-side in a buggy isn't a thing, so the auto-zenith feature isn't a hindrance, and boy do they absorb the gusts.

Could the smaller ones be used as wavekites for hydrofoils?
