Hybrid kite for hydrofoiling

Postby mar menor » Tue May 03, 2022 4:02 pm

I have put a post on the Peak 5 thread (where this has been alluded to but no detail) but have created a new topic as don't want to 'hijack ' the Peak 5 topic. Anyone got any info?

Wouldnt it be even more interesting to discuss which hybrid kites you can get now?

As it does not need to be Flysurfer, but there are also ConceptAir or Sky Country Kites or Gin :D

Other brands/models?

I would not buy anything that adds weight to Peak4/5s, I do not need extra security other than the lightest possible kite for staying up in the lulls and for the best drift in wavefoiling. Kited most of the last year with Peaks, often in breaking waves or nice swell, had to swim out only 3 times, twice following tangles with careless fellow kiters and once with the wind falling to 0kts. Did a couple of swim-out drift launches on a lake with 100% success rate, so even if I would drive the Peak in the water by error, I'm pretty confident to be able to restart. In breaking waves maybe not, but in breaking waves you are in a bad shape with any other kite as well..

If you scecifically ask to Skycountry, they can make a hybrid Hysper2 that will be lighter than the Peak 4/5 and that has more chance to relaunch. Don't know about the fragility yet, but on the scale it is lighter...
I do not know other hybrid models than above mentioned
