Yes the Concept Air Wave defies expectations just as the Peak does, but in nearly the opposite way.

I have absolutely no problem backstalling the 3m peak down in high winds with the 5th line removed. And with the 5th it is probably a level safer than anything else for snow kite touring.

But is snow kite touring the market for these hybrid single skins?

I've been riding the marabou v2 10m for the last few weeks on holiday and its great; good power like a single-skin, easy start, easy landing similar to Gin Spirit and with the new Gin bar it has flag-out but just back it down, no problem, but sure about snow landing but its mostly for water. There was a little wobbling around as it stalled down but it worked ok. Great power through the loops and turns, some tube-kite like characteristics with the power of a single skin so you can ride it small which i think is how these kites work best - just like how peaks are used - to drift etc. I managed to water start in about 8kn on the 10m and i am 115kg with a 750pa freeride foil and pocket 130cm board. In the location I was riding I was able to go upwind on extremely high angles and then part the marabou2 and drift downwind pumping and riding wind-swell, it was great fun.

And yeah I agree about points above, the shaman single skin has 5th line instant power kill for downing the kite near a mountain edge etc. the Marabou2 is for water and doesn't need that usually.

It says that marabou2 does not flutter on the trailing edge but in the middle and that it has less depower and ist sportier than Flysurfer hybrid.

So based on my experience with Peak 4's vs Marabou 2 and just basic geometry differences, I would agree with this statement.

The hybrid is lighter weight, but the Marabou has trailing edge stiffeners, a higher aspect ratio and a leaner profile. All this adds up to the hybrid probably being better at drifting and beginner friendly, while the Marabou is going be a bit more sporty. Because the Marabou flutters less, it will be faster through the wind window, producing more power through the power zone even when depowered.

Nice video; I made a hack at translating using Google Translate - someone who speaks German feel free to clarify or correct anything that's wrong:

Hybrid Singleskins
These are completely new concepts.
Of Flysurfer Hybrid and Gin Marabou 2
The Marabou is a bit more stretched [higher aspect ratio]
The Flysurfer is a bit stockier
This allows the Flysurfer to turn a bit tighter
Because he has to do less away (?)
The relaunch is also something that works really easily
Either backwards or up via a steering line
what is noticeable the gin does not flutter behind
but when you depower it only flutters in the middle [I think he means chord-wise?]
And you hardly notice anything in the bar
The Flysurfer flutters a little more.
And has more depower at the bar
The Marabou has more basic pressure, the Flysurfer more depower in direct comparison.
I would put my child on the Flysurfer Hybrid.
When I go out with the foil I would also take the flysurfer hybrid because its lighter.
But when I’m snowkiting in the snow, I would probably take the Gin because it feels sportier
But great concepts that are easy to play with and insane kites made to have a lot of fun.

I made a test of the Concept Air FF 6m V3 recently (it is in French but DeepL will give you a pretty good translation), it starts around here:

http://lesfoilz.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.ph ... 4&start=40

I am not kitefoiling but using surfboards (I paddle surf as well). I know the Waves very well (I have both V1 and V2 models). I flew the FF V2 and I was not convinced on my surfboard except for the drift in the waves. The V3 is another story ... this is the real beginning of surfkiting (even if I still like my waves very much--there is no equivalent on the market).

I recently purchased the 9 m FF V3. I have a quiver of FF V2 and a Pulsion LW 12 m and Wave 8m, 6m. I ride Freestyle/Wave Hydrofoils (ie: Triton V1). I found the FF V3 'easy' to fly. Take off and Landings were gentle. The Kite sits lower then Pulsion and less power spikes. Drifts will when riding downwind. Turns smoothly. I did not water relaunch but it should be OK as I don't have an issue water relaunching FF V2. I will now get a smaller size as well. I will try it with a surfboard and larger waves this Winter in Barbados. 72 kg rider, 8 - 14 kts, 20 m lines
