Line Plan VMG2 21

Postby föhn » Fri Jul 22, 2022 1:22 pm

Hello everyone
A question for the flysurfer brand and users, about the V M G 2 model.

In:
https://flysurfer.com/de/project/vmg2/
And, more specifically,

https://flysurfer.com/de/download/29501/

And precisely in:

Line Plan VMG2 21

Questions:

The dimensions in mm., of each segment, pointed out in the diagram, are correct??

Specifically: bm5 and b9

Thank you

Greeting

JM

If you think dimensions (all in mm) in line plan document are incorrect for a race kite, I believe you got quicker and better answer asking Flysurfer support directly at their Web page. As I don't think many kf users have vmg2 to measure for you.

Another alternative is to order flysurfer shop the replacement bridle line, it is as easy as "select vmg2 right side bm5 and b5."

Why would you doubt the given dimensions?

For a repair on a used kite it is better to copy the length of the opposite side, no measurements needed then unless you broke the same line left and right.

After the repair it is best to perform the check in the trim guide to get the kite into optimal trim!

I may have found your problem; your link to the lineplan above is actually to the 23m VMG2, the VMG2 21m has different length sections for BM5 and B9.

Also Flysurfer have published a guide to tuning VMG2 which involves measuring the overall length of the entire bridle with a spreadsheet at each attachment point to the kite, then applying an adjustment factor until the measures are as close as possible and then adjusting each attachment point until the whole canopy is the exact original shape. Pretty neat really but yeah some hard work involved. This will mean that every segment is effectively the right length for the overall shape. I have heard that some people when they have done these measures have found some huge differences in bridle lengths so much that they have quesitoned if the measures are really for their kite.
