If the kite will go up inflated, it should deflated as well. Just launch trimmed full power and pump the center lines as it goes up. Keep it sheeted in to inflate faster. Helps if you have a little room behind you to walk a little backwards while you pump the centers.

Thanks for the ideas. Its mostly a local launch issue but I was interested in the idea for stronger winds too as launching and avoiding wing tip tangles seems to be the issue there. I've seen the technique for attempting to sort tip tangles on the water by stalling the kite and then letting it surge up again but I'm not brave enough to try that on land.

Not much space at the beach launch either. Local authorities prefer we stick to one area but we need to share that with dogs, teenagers kicking balls and families having BBQs. The dogs are the main problem as they don't understand you when you ask them to move away for 2 minutes whilst you launch a kite. The others are generally reasonable about things.

No way. Really. Big difference.

Yeah, if you can run ~20..30m it works fine to launch without wind. But on my spots were I NEED to preinflate with a blower, I don't have space to run. When it is preinflated I can walk ~2..5m and from there I can pump it up with pulling frontlines in bursts. as soon as the kite is high enough, it will catch the wind and fly on it's own.
