"Silicone coating absords sand (and he prefers shoe goo)."
I haven't seen that happening with silicone coating. Just let it dry before laying it to beach.

P.S I hate click bait titles

sorry for the clickbait it wasn't intentional. I barely get any views on my channel so wasn't trying to pump anything, just wrote that on the spur of the moment. probably the clickbait culture got to me somehow. My last video I spent 4 days making and it's got 25 views. Woo hoo! Trust me I'm not doing it for the views.

The sum of this video is

"I still don't know the best way to coat my kite"

I gave up on silicone, and am still searching for the best coating.

I'll add that to description right now so you don't have to watch the video to get the gist.

You can use some commercial wax based impregnation solution. They do make kite repelling water and even slightly more airtight but if kite fabric is porous it is too far gone. Then shoe goo/silicone coating may help for some time but it hardly is anywhere near to original factory made coating. Coating process is less than pleasant and dirt easily sticks to kite while doing it.

Quite big part of these issues are light weight fabrics which are thin or may have less dense structure, or both. So there is less line per square unit. This makes them lighter but weaker, they lean on coating more and when kite is used this coating wears out. Standard material lasts much longer

Marine goop thinned was the best I found, little bit sticky, but not bad after it has dried for several days.
