Yeah, if he makes KOTA, he won't be flying a foil kite.

It would be cool if there was a division for foil kites, but it probably won't happen as it is too small of a niche. However, for the weekend wooster, small foil kites are worth considering for a few reasons:
1. Huge Depower range - you can hold down a lot more power with a high aspect foil kite.
2. Light Bar Pressure - Bar pressure increases as wind speeds go up, making some LEI kites arm destroyers at the top of their range.
3. Massive Hangtime - This saves your knees and if you don't wish to loop the kite, a great alternative to looping a small kite on the descent.
If he gets in and doesn't, I'd be surprised :P. Unless flysurfer come out with a decent big air kite. He won't stand a chance on the Stoke.

KOTA's judging has gone away from the low extreme loops and to more of the high, less pull ones to allow more hangtime/tricks. This fits the realm of a small foil.

Very impressive.

Still, there is nothing more annoying than all that vertical recording these days. Yeah, yeah, I know... because of smartphone yada yada.

True, it is really annoying, and why Instagram is a PITA

Overbeek answered to a comment on one of his YouTube videos that he will not be using foils because he doesn't think the judges likes them.

Haven't they been hinting about a new flysurfer big air kite on the Megapod for some time now? I have the impression it will be an LEI.

Good luck to him but he won't be chosen as he doesn't have enough competition experience. Looks like his skills are getting good enough for some BAKL events though!

As a NZ rider he'll also face the problems of port tack kickers for a rider used to jumping starboard tack. A bit like Marc J. He needs to spend more time balancing up his technique for Capetown. Seems like the BAKL events in Tarifa are better for a lot of riders as you can takeoff on either tack.

Problem of megaloop with foilkite, this does'nt let place to mistakes... if your timing is not perfect, you can crash very hard... wxith a tube kite, it's really more forgivable if you don't have the perfect technique.
