Lost your rig?

Postby juandesooka » Tue Aug 08, 2017 6:52 pm

Talking with some friends aboutdifferent options for attaching foil mast plates to surfboards. Options include glassing in fin/mast tracks or a various through hull options. Each has pros and cons, with the possibilities for catastrophic failure. I am curious to hear of any first hand reports of ripping out masts and losing foils. EG how often do fin/mast tracks fail and why? Post your nightmare scenario and let us all learn from your pain. :D

Not kiting, but here is an example of a paddle boarder with hydrofoil failure. Somebody sent this to me while I posted questions about adding a foil track on my polyester board: ... #msg357653
