Kiting with dolphins @ capetown!

Postby flying doctor » Tue Jan 29, 2019 9:23 pm

Justed wanted to share this magical moment!
Me and my buddies went crazy when a school of dolphins came to play with us @ Eerstesteen just north of Blouberg, capetown. I've seen Kevin Langeree's vid a couple of months ago so I know it's not unique, but probably once in a lifetime for me!

it is magical!

I had it once with them under me...goose bumps all the way.

Will never forget...and hopefully will have this dream again!

Very cool, I've only had it happen twice here in Cape Town in 10 years. From my flat I sometimes see large pods of them moving up or down the coast, but the groups I've seen kiting were small. Unlike the large dolphins we routinely see at Cape Hatteras, these ones do seem to be interested in us and playing along. At Cape Hatteras they seem scared of us and slap their tails and dive away.

We've seen a large pod hunting right in front of our beachside house here in bloubergstrand, just the day after I shot the vid. Really special!
And yeah, they seemed to enjoy weaving in and out of the wake of my board so didn't have the idea I was harassing them. Maybe in 10 years time I'll see them again 👍
