So I'm finally agreeing with you, and then all of a sudden you disagree with me. Make up your mind...

I thinking if in such case of suddent QR failure during jump best safety can be to have SHORT LEASH and put in on suicide mode BEFORE QR in the bar. In usch case will be short leash and you can catch it simply and have semi normal landing at least.
So my question for PRO RIDERSr who doing seriuos Big air hooked - why you not using such metod with short leash (even on front of spreader bar)and on full suicide before QR - why no one using it in KOTA or etc ???? I think this is only one safest wayto have in case if QR suddent flag out.

Because also with suicide things can go wrong...death loops for example

Some of the biggest moves kiters now do are a slim chance or KGB megaloop unhooked, so they do like the long leashes. Hadlow has been lashing to the front instead of the back for at least 5 years now.

I agree, short leash, straps, full suicide that's the safest way to do megaloops, but riders are still going to do it with boots and a long leash. Not sure if after this accident people will switch to running full suicide when they megaloop now or not. You get to switch out one risk for a different one.

Here is a very clear view of what actually happened to Ruben, and it has a voice over from Ruben as well.

do you think that severity of injury would be much smalled if he didn't ride boots but straps and would bail board uppon landing?

Seems that Ozone intended to urge Ruben to publish this video. And what we see, that Ruben did as he always do his usual megaloop, it's his fault that he brushed QR ?? I think its ozone construction fault,r its obiously that when you do such risky trick you don't need to think how not to bruch QR softly, it must be so constructed that no soft brush it opens. Why he not did leash on suicide mode before bar it's question. This will definitely soften his landing.

Of course.

A lot of energy hits the board, since it won’t sink into the water, it stays on surface....and the weakest part is your bone

The question is, could he have done something better?

Unfortunately he cut the landing from the shore camera...cannot exactly see how he hits the water.
Because with every crash you should lift up your legs to rather land with your butt, to get the energy away from your board and legs/knees.

Check my how to Video I did on how to do it with straps...here I also explain what I mean:

ive bailed from super high freefalling (slipped out of my chicken loop - kite oversheeted now i am unhooked - ripped out of hands - freefall - i kicked my board off, my ankle were fine even though i couldnt breathe for a while! even if i dont kick it off- it is coming off on impact - hopefully without one foot coming out first.

I do not understand boots for big air /loops, if anyone can explain something I don't understand... explain away.
