can't remember all, that's why I am asking !

Do we know what happened there?

More diversity than just megaloops it needs...
Well, then start your own competition, right?
Why? KOTA already shows more than few years ago. Way more exciting now
It's king of the AIR, not diversity. Height should matter.

I'm just repeating what you said yourself.

Air = Height

The name is correct.

If you don’t agree, do your own event. Everyone is free to do so.
This is a Red Bull event and their rules. Simple as that.

There is room for many more events, but someone has to do it and finance it. So, go for it 👍🏻

A 2 stage QR would kill more than save I would suggest...
I was referring its use in relation to this thread, when someone is 20 plus feet in the air who plummets into the sea having activated their QR by accident.
Do you have any better suggestions?

Huh,

I will repeat, he was extremely lucky. We have had a guy who broke both of his ankles, both tibias and fibula, as I understand, when landing dead flat with his board and high velocity.

Landing dead flat on the water from this height is like landing on the concrete. Almost. That is, if landed a dead flat.

On the other side, if in straps and shallows, kicked the board off, the risk is to break a back or a neck. What would you choose?

One cant do the parachuting PLF in this situation, and with straight legs on landing it will just transfer forces to the spine. And that snaps just as well easy. Perfect would be to roll with bent knees, but that's highly unlikely.

The best and only way to minimize injuries is not to land dead flat but to displace max water you can on one side only to cushion you. Easy to tell, I know ;)

D.

PS
Yes, sometimes Toby is contradicting himself, maybe someone else is using his account? ;)

PSS

And yes, there was a 'heated' discussion about having the release or not.
On this occasion I can say he would be better off with no release at all. It wasn't the user error, or I do not see it.

I guess I need to mention the Core QR again.

Did anyone ever had an accidental release with this type of QR ?
Yes. I had it 3 times this year. Also had a situation when I tried to release and it did not happen right away
And there is a famous crash video involving core QR that some one already posted.

For wakestyle boots have advantages for sure. The twisted knee with one foot out of the straps on hard landings is less likely to happen. But if a boot gets loose you have the same problem...and it happens quiet often as one thinks. Or at least used to...I guess they improved it.
For big air it’s just 🙄 straps way better. Best example why Ruben just showed us. Plus...look at KOTA. Big Air at its best, the winner needs more diversity in tricks, this includes to take the board off...
interesting QR with the twist.. hmmm

need to test it ourself - cant trust german engineering any more lol (VW...)

maybe core built in a wifi jammer that jams gopros from filming if the system fails like in rubens case... or replaces it with another video completely.
