Made a short video of the ozone release>>
https://www.facebook.com/wavepunk.okina ... 82416/?t=3

It actually rides up quite a lot without opening, even twisted. I wouldn't say its super easy to open, just about right? In my opinion the release top is a bit bulky, sticking out, so easier to hit doing hard maneuvers.
I hope Ruben can make a full recovery.

Seems that Ozone intended to urge Ruben to publish this video.
Everyone: Shit, bad luck man that sucks. Hang in there, get well soon.
Ozone reps: The QR didn't fail, Ruben accidentally released it. See?

Sand under water.

Not more shallow than Toby's local. Would never break it if did not kick the board off.

But thats me, I build and break stuff :)

Not sure If I can blame the reps...in this day and age.
I wont cry over his injuries , he might be swell but never met the guy. He was casually megalooping. That takes huge balls and risks. He's alive, get over it.
However its good to know if in hard conditions the gear you sold to thousands of riders is defective or not. Im more concerned about that actually.

It’s a classic...board away and have feet forward into shallow water.

Like beginners at water start...too much power pulls them over the edge, board away and not knowing how dangerous it is they pull the legs forward. And if shallow, legs hit ground.

If you had landed on your butt first, as explained in the video, you would be fine.

Did crash like that many times in shallow waters too. No danger for spine.

But, just my advice. Just know that 19 years of crashing is writing here. And I crash way more than any other rider. Landing new tricks every time leads to thousands of crashes.

And as also explained in my video, you can crash with your board, but you need to have it at an angle so it skips on the water surface. Then butt hits.

But, if you drop out of sky, basically straight into your board, and you can kick your board away, ALWAYS do it.

If with boots, lift your legs and pray.

thanks for the video this completely proves that the release opened in an unnatural way. if you slow down ruben's video no way did it get this far up before it released . you can not even see any movement on the red part except the righstide opening up suddenly with the brushing of hand .

Well, it’s a QR, right?

We all know how it works, do we?

It can’t work another way.

It needs to be pushed up to release.
And this is what happens.

His hand is clearly touching the back of the QR.

And what happens if the kite loops? Does it power up?
From my experience it does. This can lead to pull the bar with the hand up.

It’s happening within a tiny part of a second. And maybe the frames per second missed that part.

No buddy,

You crash your 80-90kg of solid build which has nothing to do with me ;)

My legs are like your arm. Think of that for a sec. Think what heavyweights can do and what featherweight can do. Not convinced?

Plus u riding 18m slow kite. How on Earth would I ride that?

And I was riding a 7m on 20kn when rotated and got disoriented. On that wind u would be on 18m. Cmon.

If Ruben is so skilled he would save himself. But u cant, it happened too fast. Thats whats causes major injuries.

Not the slow, semi controlled crashes, but fast and furious.

No danger for a spine? Ha ha, tell it to my friends, two of them will never touch a foil kites, ever.
