I think the problem is that midway through the jump you brought the kite back to 1 or even 2 oclock, which cut your downwind speed and distance. Keeping the kite more in front of you would have gotten you across.
I love some of the big jumping videos and do "old man" versions of them, like this one from Sam Light -
Even the experts can screw up as we've seen several times. Here's the SV Delos crew learning to kite, but their hotshot instructor has a jump fail shown at the start and at the end -
