When it all comes together

About five years or so ago I got the chance to kite in an area of flooded sand dunes here in Wales, UK. It was such a surreal experience and each winter I've dreamt of getting another chance to kite there. So when it looked like it just could work I shouted out at the very last minute to two of our team riders Jon & Marcus. Thirty minutes later we are pumping up our kites in a mix of squally hail and rain and bitterly cold temps...wondering exactly why we were bothering!
For this area to work it firstly needs an exceptional amount of rain and then winds from a particular direction but the wind will still always be super super gusty as it comes over the sand dunes first. Then the grassy dunes are covered in tiny little thorns making it pretty sketchy for your prised possession.
The water is freezing, way colder than the sea, it's shallow....very very shallow in places.
