Ok so this isn't really 'lightning' in the conventional way, however this did hurt quite a lot and can be really shocking, when on the water. I have read into it a bit and as I say in the video, you need to always be aware of the weather! So what caused this magnitude of electricity to build up is the static friction of the rain on the kite and lines when I am in the air and not grounded. This can also happen if the atmosphere has electrical charge, so if you see a big black or dark cloud and you don't want to be hit with electric shocks and strong winds, then it is worth coming in and waiting for it to pass or stop raining!
This is by far the worst electric shot that I have ever had and it is lucky that Sam managed to catch it on camera! Stay tuned for the image of the electricity leaving my board... to be posted on social soon!
