I was doing this in the 1983. Used to be a big group of us doing all sorts on the dam at Renesse (near Zireksee) in the Netherlands. I used to use a fat head high clue sail so that you could do ducktacks by holding the mast under the foot of the sail, opened up a whole range of freestyle that nobody is doing any more. On the beach I used to use a De Rosnay until mountain boards came along. I was one of the first to use a DIY skateboard with blades on the ice of the frozen Havel in Berlin, I think that was in 1986. No idea who was the first but it may have even been late 70s. Anybody know when the De Rosnay landsurfer first came out? Used to be a race circuit for it in the UK. Note: spellings may be a bit off it was a long time ago. I still ride rigs on MTB and skateboard with kite.

Thanks for the correction Janus it brings back some wonderful memories. Yes I agree the water is better. Nowadays the most time I spend with rig and MTB is in a gusty F7-8 using a old De Vries 3m pinhead sail. No freestyle just riding cause it’s too gusty to enjoy a small kite when the wind is too much from the South at my local beach. Skateboarding is with old flexi bullets and Mindless surf trucks, could not afford carver cx, but that is for light cold conditions. Keeps me off the street.

I really miss having a pot of muscles and a pint or two after a day in the water at Zieriksee. The sandbars make for interesting conditions. The skill of the visiting rider used to be inversely proportional to the size of their camper van. I wonder if it has changed much?

Lovely playground, a99, I presume the plaza is deserted because of covid?

I first used a skateboard with blades with windsurf sail in 1985 on the ice on Lake Mendota in Madison Wisconsin, and eventually bought a "freeskate" board and had lots of fun on the lake ice here in Illinois in the 90s. I used to ride with my daughter sitting on front of the board, but when my wife went through the ice and I had to rescue her with "bear claws" we backed off a bit, and now we seldom get decent ice for this. I haven't even used my DN iceboat for nearly a decade, just no good local conditions and can't be bothered to drive to Minnesota or Michigan.

Thanks, yes, in Lithuania now is strick quarantine, only food stories working, and suggestion be at home, but not restricted to be outside in your city, no restriction to kiting or spots. There was builte quite few a new playgrounds in our biggest cities, and by the way in centrum.
And there is another video with much more speed in action and some crash.

Looks great! People say water is better but fun is fun no matter where you find it!
