I kite landboard and had a guy in a kite buggy hit my kite from behind me with his years ago. I immediately deployed the safety while he tried to ride out the obvious tangle and safety situation he created for me. I was not happy but fortunately escaped with no injury or damage to my gear. Can't imagine sorting that mess in water as it was a pain on sand.
