OMG...for the waist harness...the last thing you want to do is make it really really tight!
That just increases the chance of rib injuries when you crash and the spreader bar hits your flying ribs.

It's the opposite; keep it somewhat loose so it can travel. You keep it in place by maintaining proper riding posture!

Is this one of those things that it is just impossible to get a definitive explanation on?

Yeah, I know.....but an explanation is what I'm looking for, so that I can convey that to the masses of corset wearers......... ooooo! Maybe I just answered my own question.

I just ask.." if you had to hang from a tree for 3 hours would you rather hang from your ass and hips or from your waist and ribs"?

Well argued....as all of us readily describe kite boarding as "hanging from a tree".
If a seat works better for you great, especially if that means you can now hang from that tree for 4 to 5 hours :thumb:

I got a treeclimbing harness this winter and have used it for snowkite and on the water and it is the most comfortable harness, both for foiling and for walking around.

As always with kiting it is very personal. Most important is fit & comfort. If it hurts, it messes up the whole experience. Second is how you ride. The seat harness tends to lock up your lower body. Yes, even with a slider rope which also makes jumping different. A waist harness tends to limit your upper body a bit as far as riding position goes. And switching back and forth can work depending upon that days style but the ‘hook’ height change will change rolls and spins. But it all works for somebody.

It's called an analogy and I do think it makes my point...
