If you were Lenten ... would you consider not wearing boots & going with straps? I guess the shit can hit the fan in all kinds of ways, but how common is it to incur serious injuries because of an inability to separate from the board in a mega-looping mishap?

Good to see him back...must be a nightmare going thru this all...can't me imagining two years off the water.
Sure, straps would be more evolution of he wants to go back to competing big air.
I think a problem is, that he was always very anti straps...and what would his fans say ? Who knows, but imaginable.
Let's see what his next goals are. Anyway, good luck for whatever way

I can imagine that there are many injuries due to wearing straps that the solidity offered by the boot connection helps prevent ... but more severe injuries may result when you are attached to the board by boots. Mega looping with boots seems particularly risky ... especially mega looping in water that's only 30 centimetres deep.

For sure wakestyle has advantages with boots.
Megaloops? Well, we know the answer. For sure Ruben does. So I do wonder as well.

Good news.
I would be ceremoniously voodoo burning the quick release back into Satan’s a$shole.
Some of the most gnar kite loops ever were Ruben in straps... you know.. on kites that actually yanked sideways hard instead of feeling like looping a trainer kite.
