There was a good exchange a few weeks ago about everyone's different path to learning to foil, and that gave me the idea to make this video. Here's the thread viewtopic.php?f=200&t=2410430&p=1143152#p1143152
Obviously I'm not a pro, so I'm not really in the position to be coaching anyone, but the tips i put in there took me some blood sweat and tears to learn the hard way. Let me know what I missed!!

This is a great list, it’s definitely more exhaustive than what I could cover in the video.
Totally agree on the high impact of falls from a foil board, and the reminder about the sharp wind. I had knocks and cuts on both shins from kicking the wing under water
I didn’t mention the two sizes of masts because i ultimately felt that getting the right wing helped me progress more than changing mast sizes.

Stories like yours are defining the sport and the gear and videos help people answer and understand “why foiling” questions.
Deeply in love with foil / ram air kites once I made a switch to LEIs and there was a comparable story behind it.
Thanks for sharing yours!
Glad you liked the story, I've definitely had people reach out saying they were in a similar position and asking for tips on how to get over the hump and riding on a foil. Makes me happy to help people potentially avoid some of the pain I had to go through
Why'd you switch from foil/ ram air kites to LEI? I've never used foil or ram air kites, I've just heard all the hydrofoilers raving about the light wind ability of Peak 4s, etc.
