Local Beach: Playa Malvin in downtown Montevideo.
Favorite Beaches: We are blessed with some great beaches here in Uruguay and, on occasion, some pretty epic conditions as well.
I enjoy kiteboarding anywhere I can in Uruguay be that in Montevideo, or at one of the many beaches, rivers or Laguna's further outside the city.
I've also been lucky enough to kite the North Coast of Brasil, Cabarete and Paracas in Peru.
Style: With a smile on my face
Gear: We have a great Ozone dealer here in Montevideo who gives excellent customer service, kite repairs and payment plans. So, of course I have a bunch of Ozone Kites. 3 Edges of different sizes and an Enduro. My board is also Ozone.

I just got back from an awesome kiteboarding adventure in Cabarete.

Where is the nicest place that you've ever kited?

did you get the opportunity to check out wilson's when you were at la boca?

usually only visited by people that already know its there... but *highly* recommended if anyone just happens to be at that location (la boca)
(the lobster is excellente and as fresh as can get... comes right out of those waters)

Hi - Yes, I went there for lunch. I had fish not lobster and although it was good, I thought the prices were crazy in comparison to far nicer restaurants that I ate at while in "down town" Cabarete. Maybe thats just me :)

Cool. Cabarete is really nice when the wind is strong - unfortunately that doesn't happen that often. If the wind had been better I would have gone back every year.

Went on a "kite safari" in Zanzibar going between islands and sandbars. Not sure if that could ever be beaten - certainly not for flat water.

Western Cape and Cumbuco and north the two best areas I have been to.

Cabarete is really nice.

But I prefer Cumbuco, Brazil.

Egypt out on the islands is amazing too.
One place I want to kite in my dreams is Los Roques...Venezuela.

I really could return to Hikkaduwa beach in Sri Lanka. Since the beach was so incredibly long and the atmosphere was enormously relaxing and meditative. And everything was so colorful. I just surfed, though, and never kitesurfed. Would be exciting to go there for kitesurfing next time.

yea..

i spend *mucho* time in cabarete... but i would never call it "the best" place.
..for me it is super convenient. it is a 90 min flight from miami, it is usually windy enough to foil...and there are decent waves off the reefs.

the most beautiful area would be isolated areas in bahamas and turks islands. (with a close 2nd being san blas islands in panama)
shallow water.. 1000 different hues of blue as far as you can see... usually no one else there.
my favorite "culture" for kite surfing is still baja california......because... i love fish tacos. (and really.. what else does one need in life?...except fish tacos)

interesting...
i do not remember exactly what we paid... but i dont recall their fees being unusually high (or low). i do remember very disctinctly that the food we get their has always been vvery good.

i just like that environment...a pretty area.. and isolated enough to feel cut off from the rest of the world (at least temporarily)

Never been to Cabarete but it would be great to visit one day. Cape Town can be spectacular and a little wild. Great for more seasoned kitesurfers.

Also, I checked around for some new great spots at www.kitesurfingschool.org/best-kiteboar ... fing-camps. I found some new spots I've never thought of, like Vignanj in Croatia and Theologos in Greece.

Would be grand to try them next summer!
