What gear are you all Winging/riding with?

Postby pitbulldoug » Tue Jun 09, 2020 2:20 am

Thought be interesting to see what most of us wingers are riding wing wise, foil wings and approx weight, and if you like any comments on your current gear?
Myself 225lbs HW currently riding Kalama 140L supfoil board with Axis 1020 Front wing 500 rear short fuse 30” mast, wings Naish 6.0 - 4.6m. Love the Kalama for supfoiling and good entry for winging but can see already a need for a bit smaller board for winging less swing weight, really like the Axis 1020-500 combo with my 6.0m S25 wing in 15-25 mph working good for a big guy, I was riding GF m280 wing before I got my axis and must say the axis is quite a upgrade for me, still using my GF supfoiling though, winging kinda a different animal.hoping Axis comes out with a tad bigger wing for us HW riders but till then the 1020 will do.Thanks Toby for the Winging section let’s see how it goes should be interesting how many of us kiters are winging too :thumb:

235lbs, 110L Naish Ultra Carbon, AXIS 1020 front/440 rear/standard fuselage, AXIS 1010 front/400 rear/Ultra Short Fuselage, WASP 3m/4m/6m ..

Weight and height have been the biggest determining factors for the gear I have used.

70kg, SUPSurfMachine(DW) 5'1x25x85L, Axis 1020/500/short fuse/75cm Mast, Axis 920/440/short fuse/75cm Mast. Waiting for Axis 1000/400/340 set up. F-One Swing 3.5/4.2/5.0

Learned on a 6'3" Fanatic SUP 106L. Still use occasionally also for SUP foiling.

Conditions flat & choppy on the bay. Small bumps on the ocean. Typical conditions on the Gulf Coast of Florida.

I am using a 4.2 slingwing and a 5 wasp. My board is 138 litres and 7'10" long. I am using the slingshot infinity 99 foil with the large rear wing and the longer fuselage on a 75 cm. mast. I weigh 80 kg. I am getting a 6 foot 120 liter board soon and that is as small as I want to go. Very gusty here and I like to be able to comfortably stand in the lulls and when the wind drops. I also plan on getting a 3 meter wasp for the days over 20 knots.

Can you tell me what is lowest wind you can go with 138l board and expected with 120l board? Using 5m wing.
I'm trying to learn with 116l board and 7m wing. Weigh 155# (75kg). Using Slingshot Fkite with short mast.
Seem to pick wrong days for learning and getting only onshore 10-12 mph wind (and drive 80 miles roundtrip).
Close beach is 8-12 mph somewhat side-on with always some shore break!

Thanks

With the 5-meter wasp I am guessing I get going around twelve or thirteen knots. I haven't taken a wind reading to be sure but I'm guessing it's somewhere around there. I have no idea how I will do on the 120 litre board. The board I'm currently using is the only one I've tried. I also have an Fkite Wing that I use kite foiling. I have never tried it with the wing but I'm guessing I would need a lot more wind with it. When I tried windfoiling with it I needed it a lot of wind. That's when I bought a larger foil go with it.. the infinity 99 foil that I'm using I really like and it has a huge amount of lift which helps me get going early.

I'm 5'11" 160-170 lbs on a 90 liter 5'1 wing board or a 5'8" 110 liter sup foil board. Both made by www.supsurfmachines.com
For foil I use a few different set ups all Axis
1000 short fuselage and 340 rear winging
1010 ultra short fuselage and 340 rear sup and winging
1150 ultra short fuselage and 370 rear sup and winging
For wind wings I'm on F1's but waiting to try the airush and SS V2
