Who are the Wing foilers ?

Yeah agree with Peter, it’s technique dependent too. With practice you can drop your low end to sub 10 knots with a 6. A 5 will get you going in 14 knots no problem with a bunch of different size foils once you know how.

Anyone use the 9m wing from gong yet? or is it out yet? Wonder what kind of lowend from that?

OK. So it's starting to get a little confusing.

Big promotion of Peak4s because they allow the ultimate in light wind float/drifting/depowered wave riding. However, are those advantages now being upstaged by the potential of winging?

I think kites and wings overlap in their function. A kite will definitely go in lower wind that a wing (at the moment). A skilled kitefoiler is good from about 7/8 knots and skilled wingfoiler from about 10 knots (but the wingfoiler is working hard and the kitefoiler is not). If the wind is light, I kitefoil. If the wind is up, I wing foil. If I want to jump or it is shallow, I kite/TT.

A Peak 4 is a great drifting kite on a wave but not as good as a wing on a wave. Nor can you ride a kite into the wind on wave, which you can with a wing (quite a sensational feeling on a wing).

We have had 5 days of 30 knots plus on my local lake and all I have done is wing surf. Prior to June 2019 all I would have done was boost in those conditions.

I recommend you try it.
