Wingfoil bags?

Postby Peter_Frank » Thu Dec 17, 2020 5:12 pm

Does anyone know if you can buy a long bag where you can have a "rolled up" wing?

Of course asking as I prefer having a boom, and there are at least two brands having booms - but maybe others could use it too, so you just let the centerstrut stay inflated or semiinflated, even faster to pack down this way.

It does not matter which type of bag it is, some has been using boardbags - but they are a bit big, and usually very costly if one for each wing it gets expensive...

Okay if too long, would say around or even longer than 2 meter is fine, then all sizes up to 7 m2 can be rolled and put loosely inside so it can dry, and no damage on anything.

Maybe a really big boardbag where ALL your wings can be put inside, is better, now I think of it, but not sure.

Could be interesting to hear if anyone has ideas if something exists, you can buy?

Having wings stuffed in the car alongside foilwings and kitefoils and surfboards and harnesses and hooks and everything, then it is better if you have some protection over the rolled up wings :thumb:

PS: There is NO problem having it rolled up with the boom attached, or semiattached, it is just DuoTone writing this to make sure you dont crush it tight like an idiot, and destroy something.

I have an old Naish bag that has a zipper, extends the bag to about 6 feet. Not sure if it is an old kite bag from pre single inflate days or a windsurf sail bag. Anyways, windsurf sail bag is probably best bet.

I added a kite pinch valve and leave centre strut inflated....I find it's a hassle to deflate and it saves me time on the next session. Especially with the 6m, that beast requires as much pumping as a 17m kite.

I use these for kites and wings

https://www.mysticboarding.com/products ... te-#000000

4 pictures, almost identical - but not ONE WORD about length nor diameter :(

Could you measure yours when convenient, lenght and diameter at the thick end? Thanks :thumb:

Keep 'em coming, good to have some options

PS: A boardsock is low cost, but does not quite do it in terms of protection I think

Old kite bags could work. My 2015 NorthTone Vegas bag extends into a sleeve that holds the kite with the struts inflated. I'm sure if you put a 'Want to Buy' ad someone will pull out something good.

A cheap option is to take a cover of a big parasol. Something like this:

They are available in different sizes.

That is probably THE best solution, low cost, waterproof, sturdy, perfect fit, and many to choose between, some with zippers, thanks :thumb:

Got a sewing machine? A couple of metres of cheap ripstop and half an hour will make you a perfect bag.

Even better, get some eva yoga mat, sandwich it between a couple of layers of ripstop, sew it into a tube. Padded bag. 8)
